Re: Re: Question about an engine swap

vtc=not cool how would you delete vtc? (this oughta be good) so basically the only reason to get the newer long block is the VTC, which you wont want anyways if your going for max power. also, the s15 transmission, while strong, is not as strong as the 5 speeds. which matters when going for max power. so tell me why again you would even want an s15 motor? actually the high port head on the s13 motors are said to have higher hp potential. s15 swap would only make sense if that extra 6th gear is REALLY needed, or your gonna leave the motor stock no matter which one you swap.

just to help you out on your turbo question, since everyone else is saying ooo theres a bunch of viables...and theres not really...with 100% stock internals you can look at around 360-380 whp, with a .86 a/r gt2871r turbo which has good spool times (close to stock) or you can go with a garret T3/t04e turbo, which will net around the same #'s (this turbo needs a new manifold to run the t3 flange turbo...duh) the 2871r is t25 flange based therefore mostly bolt-on. of course you will need to run diffrent intercooler piping/ diffrent oil lines. (taka lines). anywho...hopefully this helps you alittle bit.

Re: Question about an engine swap
Actually the S15 SR has a higher compression ratio so the S13 will be able to handle higher boost on stock internals.
And if I recall correctly the VTC can be removed by installing non VTC cams and cam gears and changing the ECU. |

If you would have read all my post I pretty much stated what I wanted out of the car and I actually did ask how much boost the stock internals could take. Anyways thanks for the chart.

Re: Question about an engine swap
no, your original question was how much horespower you could get out of the SR, not how much boost it can handle. If you were asking about boost i would have simply said they are said to be able to take about 28psi, but the blocks have warped in the past from people doing only 25/26. The stock turbo wont even handle that much boost though...
