Re: s13 brake upgrade

Fronts do 70% or more of the breaking, it is unreasonable to change the rears, unless you want looks. Just get good pads and new lines.
300ZX NA and TT both have the same size breaks iirc. Except the early ones (90-91 i think) wich had 26mm aluminum caliper, lighter but were replaced by iron ones due to aluminum ones being unstable under high temperatures (don't know the word for that). On 240s aluminum once would be perfect, lighter and lots of stopping power for such a car.

yes i agree, because thats exactly what i did, people argue that it makes the car unbalanced, but like u said it is unreasonable to change the rears, unless u are a pro and race on the track all the time, but u would probably get better brakes than 300zx brakes anyways if u were pro....Also, it is a good idea to get the 300zx master cyclinder to get the BEST use out of the new brakes!

You mean warp? And how does the kind o fmetal used in the caliper determine if the rotors can withstand heat?

think about it, aluminum is not stable under high heat, if the caliper deform "temporally " under high stress and heat, the result will be a micro change in the surface it makes contact with the rotor. as a result if the session of high heat continues, the breaking will suffer and you will decrease the effectiveness of the break system.

hot steel (the alloy metal that is used in making the calipers) will not deform as much as Al calipers. coool?

BTW, the diff is relevent olly at EXTREEEEEEM stress, ie TRACK days

Re: s13 brake upgrade

Yes, thank you, warp. I read that the caliper itself actually warps, along with the disc. But for a light car it is no problem, unless you are hardcore racer, but again if you are you at least will have all around skyline brembos on.

Or you can just get a 5-lug swap, depends on how much money you have (me, I don't have any)
