Re: Re: Re: 1996 3000gt N/a vs a 1995 mustang gt

He is correct in saying the NOS brand octane booster is the only one that works as stated. There have been many many indidual tests done and they all agree the NOS brand is the best. They are not all the same. And of course he should be running premium. Thats what it calls for. Also you dont want to run more octane than you need anyway. The higher the octane the harder it is to burn. If you try to run 100 octane in a NA car with no forced induction you will lose power. A CAI MIGHT net 1 whp. Not worth the trouble. Just get a regular open air filter (like K&N or whatever) and be done with it. And its common knowledge a cat back doesnt do much for na 3s's. A down pipe alone will net more power than a catback. downpipe and test pipe with a stock catback is fine.

Re: 1996 3000gt N/a vs a 1995 mustang gt

ok heres the scoop. I think u should just get a short ram intake. an intakes an intakeits just better airflow, hot or cold. its all good. umm, i went with a straight pipe at our local exuast shop. cost me 90 bucks. he took out 20 cats and 2 resonators, keptthe same muffler though. i felt the difference after that. um, octane booster isnt wat its all cracked up to be. what 'crazy torino' is talking about is fuel injector cleaner, or just fuel system cleaner, either one is helpful. its not gonna decide a race, but its good for maintainence. i agree with the quarter tank shit, so go premium on that, try shell v power. annnd um, good luck man, shift well. peace out

Re: 1996 3000gt N/a vs a 1995 mustang gt

yes yes yes how stupied of me i should have been more Precis in saying octain booster/ fuel injecter cleaner. and deffently role with v-power or bp's what ever premium both companies filter their gas really well ( still go with v-power just sounds cooler) i also agree with a filter upgrade and hell if your looking for mods go with homeboyz idea of a straight pipe if he says he can feel the change then find a custom exhaust shop. oh by the way how does it sound, quackmandude, good or like herion addicted bumble bee?

Re: 1996 3000gt N/a vs a 1995 mustang gt

^dude no offense, but if you want him to get an HKS exhaust for a VR4, you must have been dropped as a child... why would he need a 3" exhaust... his car'll loose low end power, only to gain a few ponies up top... the stock vr4's exhaust system (i'm talking the whole deal including cats and DP ... if that'll fit) is a 2.75" which I'm told is perfect for n/a performance... and it'll only cost him like 100 bucks or something, because so many vr4 owners are upgrading.... that's my reasoning...

the reason I said to get a short ram intake or just a filter becuase even if he spends the money on the CAI, I've heard that the HP gains won't even be negligible, so a short ram is just fine...

I do agree with you about changing the oil and using some injector cleaner just to help him out though.

nothing wrong with helping clean the injectors. air intake can only help. and your practicing launching and shifting might be your biggest upgrade
