Re: why do i have wheel hop?
yeah, its not really wheel hop, but its more like whacking in the rear, i have to replace a wheel bearing next week, so im just going to swap half-shafts too, cause i have a less used set, just in case the joints are worn on mine. other than that, it must just be loose rear end suspension parts with play in them that are clattering when teh clutch grabs.
i havent had someone stand outside of teh car to see if the wheels actually move, but all of the noise definitely comes from the rear end, so we'll see what happens

Re: why do i have wheel hop?
well, it may be clutch chatter, but the noise is coming from the rear end, because something has more play in it than it is supposed to, and since im not taking the tranny off again, because i know everything is right in there, im doing rear end work instead, im not just going to sit here and say "thats the way its supposed to be"

Re: why do i have wheel hop?
well, everyone had told me that i should just live with my broken speedometer and i probably wont figure out how to fix it...but i still went ahead and tryed to fix it, and did it myself for only 20$ and a little bit of my saturday...im not trying to down what you said, but sometimes you need to just asses the problem and do what you think it is. You could also jack the back end up and run it through the gears to see what happens. And get a stethescope(sp?) for automotive (you know the one im talking about) and start poking around to see if you find anything in the differential, driveshaft, ect..

Or you could realize that puck clutches and beat subframe bushings dont get along.

Re: why do i have wheel hop?
well if it happens when your letting out the clutch and only then, wouldnt it be a clutch related problem probably?

Re: why do i have wheel hop?
It's only when he's letting out the clutches that the bushings get that kind of a shock which makes them make that particular noise.

I do, so far I love em... I have yet to drive hard on them because I'm breaking my motor in but I have zero shudder when taking off. P.S. the people that bitch about gear whine are fucking lame. |

I'm going to prolly get some aluminum subframe bushings soon. Too cheap not to get them you know?

Re: why do i have wheel hop?
werd...
Dont bother doing all the burning and cutting and bullshit 1)use a C-Clamp to press out the center, which will just rip out with a little force 2) cut two notches in the lip around the bushing case so that you can bend up a little flap. 3) Take a flat head screwdriver and hammer it in between the casing and the sumbframe (use a good screwdriver so it doesnt break right off the bat, I went thru two of them) 4) if the casing still hasnt fallen out find a punch with a larger diameter and drive it thru the gap you made with the screwdriver. I spent 4 days trying to do it the burning and cutting way. After that I just got pissed and tried it my way and it took me 10 minutes to do the other three. |
