Re: Headlight Conversion???

highs and lows at the same time dosent generate to much heat to melt anything does it? I do most my driving at night, and would try this, but at 1.5 hours each way at night, dont want to melt anything....

Re: Headlight Conversion???

I have often held my switch to where both were on, but I'm afraid that would blow the bulbs or burn up the circuits or something... I am a little skittish about making that a permanent mod...

i seem to remember someone saying that if you convert to H4 it would melt something is the down position after like 5 min., other that that i dont know. I suppose if your driving the wind would cool it enough where it shouldnt be a problem...?

Re: Headlight Conversion???

well when the snake eyes are on (headlights illuminated in the down position), it doesn't provide enough illumination to actually drive at night. so basically its just for show. when i'm driving, i actually pop the headlights up.

Yeah, I wouldn't use stock wiring with H4 bulbs, I heard they pull too many amps through the wires and will burn them up, though there are aftermarket harnesses available for the conversion, therefore not allowing the wires to heat up too much...

True, snake eyes aren't meant for driving... maybe only while the sun has gone down just enough to illuminate the parking lights, but not at night...

i have the H4 conversion. i just got an aftermarket wiring harness adapter just to fit the plug configuration. i've had no problems at all with overheating, bulbs have not failed after 2 years.

but i wouldn't do the H4 conversion, b/c it doesn't illuminate much better than the stock sealed beams do. instead do a HID conversion. there's a group buy HID retrofit on 3si right now, but its currently only offered for 2nd gen headlights. The guy is working on the 1st gen retrofit. but you can most likely find the parts for much cheaper than he lists and just send it all to him for the labor, which is a fair price: http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=296625

Re: Headlight Conversion???
