I don't know where you live but iam in Canada, and everything here costs an arm and a leg more than in the states lol, and i just had an eaton posi installed for $825. I was not out of wanting one but necessity, not only are the factory G80 units weak but so are the factory carriers and spider gears. That price would have bennm higher if i had not caught it at the time that i did and luckily the crown, pinion and bearings were all still good.

Re: Burnouts!

They aren't all G80's. I have a GT4, which is a locking differential with a 3.73:1 gear ratio. I guess mine works pretty well cause I can't get more than a short squeal from my tires. I'm sure I could if I really wanted to beat on her.

no, GT4 simply indicates a 3.73:1 gear ratio. I have a GT4 ratio and a G80 locker. Both RPO codes are in my glove box

When doing burnouts, sometimes i can get both tires to spin but most of the time its only one. Usually if i gradually apply gas i can get both of them to spin but if i floor it i only leave one strip. My friend has the same truck except with a 5.3L but he can get both tires to light up EVERY SINGLE TIME! nomatter what he does(taps it, floors it, gradually gives gas, etc.) i bought the truck used so maybe the differential is just messed up?? but if anyone knows anything about posi trac or anything that can help me get both tires to light up then please reply. Is there a cheap solution?
I only have 1 question.......WHY?

Well because it looks cool and its actually kinda embarrasing when only one tire spins.

Paid $350 for my Eaton, installed it, and have never had a one wheel smoke show since. Now two......there's a different story. Hands down one of the easiest/cheapest mods to date.

Side note....back in 02 I had a stock g80 installed at my local stealership. Cost me around $800 give or take. It worked OK at best. When I had the 4.8L with the Superchips, Airaid, and exhaust system, I was still getting one wheel action on occation.

After the swap over to the 6.0L, I was extremely overpowering the stock unit. It would come unlocked doing the burnout, then it would come unlocked at around the 61ft mark and smoke up one tire.

With the Eaton...my slicks are finally wearing on both sides.
