Re: Can't tell the differance between reality and fake memory? Weird..

Wrap your head around this one:

Your brain releases certain chemicals when you remember things, that say 'hey, you, you remember this'. When you see someone's face, your brain emits those chemicals telling you that you 'remember' that face.

Now, Deja Vu works by releasing those chemicals when you actually have never had such a situation occur. When you get that Deja Vu feeling, that's your brain emitting those chemicals when in reality it's a completely new experience.

So, what are memories? Just chemicals emitted by your brain? Then how real are any of your memories, how can you trust them? Our entire lives can be comprised of our brain emitting chemicals that make us think we remember our lives occuring.

Re: Can't tell the differance between reality and fake memory? Weird..

i had a dream the other night that i was in my driveway in my truck and some big guy shot me three times while i was trying to figure out how to put in a switch for an alarm i was installing. out of the corner of my eye (in the dream) i saw my mom backing out of the driveway and i thought to myself, "oh my god, i am going to die!! i have to get her attention!" so my dream self forced the part of my brain that was still conscious to scream. i actually screamed and i woke up and just laid there for like half an hour, wondering what the hell just happened. then i went into the kitchen and i asked my mom, "did you hear me scream?" she said she thought it was tires screeching outside the house. i remember being in that dream state and i had to try really hard to scream. i've never had a dream that scary before or one that felt that real. i've never woken up screaming either. has anyone else ever had a dream that felt so real like that? i guess this has a little more to do with dreams than memories.

I hope you never have a really bad acid trip. It's exactly like that, except you don't know the difference between 'real' and 'fake'. And 'concious' and 'unconcious'. Will freak you out for sure.

Man this thread has some weird shit... I've had "real" dreams before and they freak me out, but possibly not to the extent of "real" to what some of you guys have experienced.

There is no "Real". Stop trying to define it. Just enjoy the "here" and the "now" because "reality" is a sliding scale.

Quite possibly the worst drug any human can take is Belladonna or Datura. There is absolutely no sense of reality, it's impossible to tell what's real and not. I've heard people have thrown parties with 50+ people showing up, having conversations with them, and every single person was imaginary. One second they're sitting in their room, then look out the window and they're on a beach. It's so incredibly dangerous, just read up on some people's experiences:
