Lemon Infinity M45 - mold is making me sick

I have a 2004 Infiniti M45 with awful smelling mold in the ventilation system. All Infiniti will do is squirt disinfectants into the system which does not cure the problem. Read about it at www.BadNissanInfinitiCars.com

There is only ONE THING that will get rid of mold since it is a living organism. The proper way would be to have the interior cleaned and an ozone treatment. I'm sure you can find load of information about ozone treatment at www.google.com

'04? It's probably still under warranty. Try another dealer, or write directly to the company.

Re: Lemon Infinity M45 - mold is making me sick

moisture buildup is a nautral byproduct of any A/C system, even your home A/C, some worse then others granted, but it is still normal. letting the moisture sit on the evaporator after shutoff causes microbial growth(mold). i just yesterday printed out a copy of a TSB about the same problem for saturns. their corrective procedure: remove any debris from the evaporator case, clean evaporator with disinfectant or cooling coil coating, and install delayed blower motor control module. cleaning the evaporator with disinfectant is very simular if not the same as infinity's verison, the common do-it-yourself verison is spraying Lysol in the vents. the delayed blower motor control module runs the blower motor after shutdown to reduce moisture buildup. maybe infinity doesn't have a delayed blower motor control module like saturn, maybe you could retrofit one to work. or the easy work around is to turn off the A/C but keep the fan on for the last few minutes of your drive before you shutdown the engine.

Re: Re: Lemon Infinity M45 - mold is making me sick

The product I use is "Ozium" available at most national auto parts stores. It works. It's sprayed directly into the HVAC intake cowling. If you have a cabin air filter, you can remove it first. The procedure can be repeated annually.

Another suggestion is to not run the AC in the MAX position too much where inside compartment air is recirculated, of course that depends on how your digital climate control is set. Air drawn from the outside will help minimize the bacteria, mold and musty smell.
