and this isnt bullshit read into some professional drag racers and you will see how wrong you are about lots of these assumptions. and im not a honda driver hondas are built for economy, not sport. the inherent quality of their engines is what makes them so popular with racers. with reliability comes power. stock the sr20 is one of the most reliable engines ever made and thats one reason it can handle so much power. a 400hp bottom end wont blow up pumping out 140hp hondas were tuned for economy by using the smallest engine possible and extracting enough power to move a car with it. their cylinder heads flow VERY well and Vtec was created to make enough power from a piddly little gas saver engine to actually move the car. im not saying they are god engines by all means just that they are capable in the right hands. my friend with a 1.6L sohc vtec civic bolted on intake, headers, exhaust, cam gears, adj. FPR, VAFC, and ran 16.2. it takes more than bolt ons to make any 1.6liter engine fast. guaranteed a 92-95 civic EX with 1.6L sohc vtec engine will beat a b13 sentra xe with 1.6L dohc engine though, given equal mods dont talk shit before you learn everything please. it helps

YO YO YO!!! Honda's are the shiznit!!!
hehe, anyways, I am here to defend honda! yes I am a Honda driver. I own a 92 civic and its reasonably fast and yes its got a swap. Like its been said, unless its a civic si, it wasnt meant for racing. You could argue that even the civic si wasnt made for racing. But in the 4cylinder import scene I guess it was. So, now we have the RSX-S which I know a guy with a 2005 here running 14.0@101mph with 3 bolt-ons (dont know the details) and drag radials, no turbo or nos. I have a friend with a 2004 (the 2005 are better) that ran 14.1@98mph with intake, header, removed cat (stock catback), hondata chip and drag radials. I think thats damn impressive considering the hot humid weather of puerto rico. I also drive a stock (except for window tint, chrome muffler tip and a bass tube) 2004 Sentra 1.8S automatic as my dailydriver oh and to defend the sohc, for some time (a while back), the fastest all motor car was a crx with a non-vtec carburated sohc motor ![]() edit: oops I didnt see slideway's post about the all motor crx
