Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

I wonder how much power we could from the Eclipse GT's if Mitsubishi turbocharged them. 300HP+ easy but do you think it would be closer to 300HP or 350HP or maybe even to 400HP???

Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

It's all about what turbo they'd put in, how much boost the block will see, and how much it can handle. Just like the Evo... its basically faster than the GSX because of the 16g (with supporting mods, ofcourse), and a better tranny, but in a nutshell, that's essentially all that makes it faster...

Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

It would be nice to see a 350+HP Eclipse but I don't see that happening because of the whole issue of the eclipse overwhelming the Evo. Most likely they will have the base eclipse thats 162hp, a rallysport thats around 230hp with upgraded suspension and a few other goodies), and the 263hp GT.

Yeah probably that would make since.

I don't think it would. An AWD turbo Eclipse would be faster the EVO, but it would also weigh like 3700-3800 lbs, so at less then 3300 lbs the EVO would still be a much better handling car.

Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

Well thats what I ment. It would overwhelm the evo in speed. Of course everyone knows that the Evo will rape the Eclipse in handling.

Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

the ralliart model might be similar to what they did w/ the evo RS, just for racing, so it mightnot have a lot of that sound deadening and extra stufff taht weighs it down, prolly end up around 3200lbs. i would assume it would be the 4 cyl one they turbo around 240 hp rated and a 16g like the evo's, they most likely won't make it AWD just because that is evo territory, but the endeavor will be a ralliart model too, and if i'm not mistaken its AWD

it most likely won't step on the v6 eclipse toes because there's a difference b/t torque responsive car, and a boosted car, my car feels plenty torquey and i can get it to jump by stepping on it in 2nd gear, then i drive my friend's galant vr-4 and you have to lay into the gas to get the boost going to move the same amount

I would sell all my worldly possessions for it if they made it AWD.

Re: Saw something on the New Eclipse.

I probably will look into one when they come out. Don't really care if it is a 4 cyl or a 6 cyl turbo. All that matters to me is that it is a turbo. Hopefully it will be reasonibly priced. I looked at the GT v6 when it came out and here the where wanted 32,000 for it. I laughed at the guy because they had an EVO VIII sitting right next to it that they where wanting 34,000 for.
