"Progress" (paint job) 2k2 Corvette Convertible

This one is a filler model I was asked to do for a friend of mine to replicate his wife's car. I don't think this one will be updated too often, so each segment might get a separate thread...this one is to celebrate the paint job! The 1:1 is Electron Blue. Actual color:

My model:

Two coats of Krylon white primer, two coats of Krylon gloss blue, one coat of Testor's Sapphire blue metallic, and two coats of Boyd blue pearl. No clear, as of yet. It is a very difficult color to capture, it changes every second!

For the record, I hate Testors paint, it runs. Boyd is awesome, great for the price.

Yeah, it is a lot of paint. But it's all paint I had left over from previous builds, and I think the color worked out. There's a surprising amount of detail left, even after the eleventy billion coats.

What does KUTGW mean?

I think he means "keep up the good work.
Very nice. That testors sapphire blue is difficult to deal with, IMO.

Awesome paint, Kat! You nailed the color, absolutely. And to still have detail left after "eleventy billion" coats of paint is, well, outstanding! Hope we get to see some more of this in the future.

The testors paint sat in the sun on a 95 degree day for...I dunno, a few days. Maybe it was overheated? I don't know; all I know is, it runs like water. I only use it to add depth/tone between the gloss blue and the pearl; otherwise it wouldn't be dark enough. It's a real shame, because it's a beautiful color. It was also very hard to switch from airbrush back to rattle can. Guess I got spoiled.

This one should be done...very soon. It's a Christmas present. It was supposed to be a surprise, but the lucky lady owner frequents a site I posted this one...and I didn't know until yesterday. It will be as basic as a basic Revell + wheels build can be (she has the Y2K wheels, this kit is a '98)--tan interior, minimal engine detail, shiny shiny paint. Now that the body is done, I should be able to do everything else in a matter of hours; I've only done about 5 C5 Corvettes!

Re: "Progress" (paint job) 2k2 Corvette Convertible

Great paintjob.
My father got the same car and I want to make him a replica too. Can you tell me what brand is it? The only C5 corvette I saw was the 2004 by revell and it's not convertible.
Thanks a lot!
