Cars you wished you'd kept.

I'm young, I'm 16, so the only car I've ever even owned I've still got. But my dad and my uncles and everyone else from back in the day are always talking about the cars they wished they'd kept. From late 40's Indian motorcycles, to 390 Galaxies and Morgan plus 4's, triumph tr3's, sunbeam tigers, big block impalas, classic corvettes and 64 t-birds. The super cool, collectibles and stuff you never really thought much of then, and your your really kicking yourself for selling. Anybody else have one of those stories?

My mom use to have a 71 Corvette splitback, that she sold when I was born. I always told her she should have hung onto it, but she always reminds me that I was the reason she had to sell it.

My dad is always telling me how much he regrets selling his 1970 Z28 Camaro... He sold it to a buddy and the a-hole ran it into a telephone pole I would have killed him.

It's all good now... he has his baby, 1979 Z28

Been lucky so far. The only car I’ve gotten rid of was my first one (a 81 Sentra). I plan on keeping the Delorean and Spyder, but I won’t care if the rest get sold off one day.

Unhappy

my dad had a 67' barracuda formula(s) convertible, he had to trade it for a station wagon in 1973 to take care of the family. if he would of kept it,it would have been one of the rarest barracuda's.

Re: Cars you wished you'd kept.

I had a '71 Challenger SE that would be nice to have back just because of the crazy increase in E-body prices. Oh well.

Nobody is getting my Mirada. They made way less of these things than Deloreans. Even AMC Gremlins are easier to find.

When I was 16 my sister was going to trade me her 81 Z-28 for my citation. She ended up trading it in on a new S-10. Her Z-28 had a built 454 in it with all the properly functioning air induction hooked up. It was sweet. Dark metallic blue with silver Z-28 decals and silver interior. The only distinguishable difference between hers and a regular Z-28 was the absence of the "air induction decals" from the hood scoop and a pair of raised 454 emblems in their place. Man that car worked!!! Wished I coulda got it!

Re: Cars you wished you'd kept.

'77 Jeep Wagoneer with a 401 cid engine. These are rare, and the jeep folks tell me full size jeeps from that time have the best combination of factory equipment.

It was probably scrapped years ago.

1979 Mustang pace car.
It was ahead of its time because the mid-80's GT's used its front end and suspension package.

I know of the guy who has the car now. Apparently its a real mess now, sitting in his back yard for 10 years, but the owner thinks its collectible and woth many thousands of $$$, even though decent examples sell for 4-6K.

Re: Cars you wished you'd kept.

'65 GTO "Special Edition"... It had TriPower, 4-speed, power windows, A/C, power antenna, and a fwe other "goodies", all factory. Easily recognized by the chromed hood scoop insert. Thought t was done by a low rider... Oh well! One of 500 cars...

What is a '71 Corvette "splitback"? I know about the '63 "split window", but that was a one-year only deal. Never heard of a split-back...

Re: Cars you wished you'd kept.

My dad had a '79 Mercury Cougar XL 350cid. Had choke problems, and it would idle around 3000 rpm when started, and often wouldnt come down. He sold it in '82, and i curse him ever since.
