Bin Laden Speech 11/01/04

Bin Laden, like most of his type throughout history, is most definately NO idiot. Hitler was NOT an idiot, Stalin was NOT an idiot. Non of these men were idiots, otherwise they would never made it to where they were/are. No, idiots they are not. Psychotic, they ARE. Some sort of severe psychosis taints their mind, whether it's religious or racist or whatever. Bin Laden has been able to successfully marshal an entire despotic movement around himself, and the followers of this movement buy into it wholesale. He's successfully evaded the pursuits of the greatest present day powers in the world, and keep millions of people on edge (how much of that is really him, and how much of that is actually the media and governments perpetuating the whole terrorist-bogeyman idea is another issue.) The thing about this movement Bin Laden has so obviously championed, is that it's the kind of thing that would continue to go on. Like I noted in the other topic: as long as there is one extremist fanatic left, he will succeed in passing on the message. The key to ending it, or at least curtailing a majority of the acts, is to get to the root of the problem, and (much like that article quoted above) take the floor right out from under these people, then hopefully reason will step in and they'll come to their senses. Unfortunately, most of the bodies in power fail to grasp that idea, instead seeing answers only in the childish, unsuccessful "You hit me now I'm going to hit you back" line of logic, which is coincidentally the one thing most parents try to instill in their children NOT to do in life. People have proven willing to fight for ANY cause, no matter how outlandish. But when you remove the reason for the cause, suddenly the situation changes, and it becomes much more difficult for them to lure others to it and, if reasoning prevails, eventually convince themselves it's no longer a meaningful venture.

No one with any decency condones the heinous acts being commited by these extremists, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that hitting back is just as ignorant an act.

In my opinion bin ladin is cut from the same cloth as the Columbian drug lords. Their main interest is to remain in power of the areas they control. Power leads to money and to influence. I don't believe for a second that he is after anything as "noble" as freeing "his" people from anything. Leave us alone and we will leave you alone? Not a chance.. What he is really saying is leave us alone so I can run this area the way I see fit. The proof is in his actions against the people he claims to be trying to free from the "infidels". Not only himself but the others who falsely proclaim the same message as him. Where the majority of the casualities comming from in recent months in this ongoing campaign to free Afghanistan and Iraq? The majority of casualities are comming from the citizens of these countries and from their police forces. Who is causing the majority of this bloodshed? The very people who claim to want these people free from us.
Are they killing these people in order to set them free? These deaths aren't just the normal casualities of a war but they are planned attacks on civilians. There is nothing noble about the cause of bin ladin or any of the followers unless the same nobleness can also be pinned on druglords. It's all about power over that area and he and his followers are making a grab at it the only way they know how.
