I have to agree with the first post....Harry Potter is just a book and too many people are linking it to satan and other horrible things and trying to ban it. I actually started reading the series 5 years ago b/c I had heard that people were being ridiculous and trying to ban this book in schools so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I turned out to love the books and think they are great. I understand that is not everyones opinion of them and thats fine but I very much enjoy them. And yes I was one of the people standing in line at the midnight release party...and noooo I don't think that makes me insane. I thought it was fun and though I know i could have walked into any book store the next day or the next week or the next month and just picked it off the shelf it was something I wanted to do and found it fun. There is no reason to criticize people who do enjoy it or camping out for star wars (though I did not do that). People enjoy different things and me sitting in line for the release of the 6th Harry Potter book didn't hurt anyone else so no big deal. People do need to realize though that it is only a book and has nothing to do w/religion or whatever other far fetched ideas they may have. If a parent doesn't want their child to read the book thats their choice but it should not be banned. As one of the post mentioned if people are going to ridicule this book why not go as far and ridicule Lord of the Rings, or the Lion Witch & the wardrobe or what about the Wizard of Oz there was a witch in there. We could go on forever with this list. Its sad to see that so many people are so ignorant to think that any book should be banned. It is a form of expression and it it insults you then just simply don't read it!!!

i remember a while ago(when the original 3 books were out), i had to attend sunday school(it sucked, i hated being catholic) and i remember the teacher said "harry potter is the devil, dont read those books. its satan trying to take you further away from god." i started laughing and she asked whats so funny. i told her i thought that was bullshit(yes i said bullshit in sunday school). she gasped and had me sent home. haha. my parents werent happy. we've since left catholicism and just go to one of those casual church where they are actually normal people(still christian).

i thought i had to share lol.

It's a story. A story with magic. A fictional story with magic. A fictional story with magic written for children. IKG's point about it being no worse than the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe or even LoTR is true. As an adult, I've read a couple of them and watched a movie or two with kids.

Thats all the people who don't have an ocean to go see. Anybody ever notice this almost all of the "liberal" states are states that are ones that have acsess to open water and almost all the "conservative" states are land locked. Its got something to do with that I'm telling you!! When it comes to religion we should be more like france(but I still say fuck the French!) Peace-

Well, first of all, I want to mention that The Lion the witch and the wardrobe was meant to be a Direct representation of religion. And really isnt a kids book.

Harry potter may have some underlying issues but that's only based on what the author thinks of it. If it's some secret code that the author hid in the storyline, then sheesh... the christian motherfuckers must be experts in the code of satan. Cuz I've watched some of the harry potter movies, and it's just an entertaining story. I didn't feel like I was having satanism forced into my life. Let's all just get together in this thread and laugh about the people who are so caught up with trying to live life perfectly, that they let it pass them by.
