Talking Overheating problem, disconnected wire?

Hi Guys! It's been awhile, but I'm back, but it's been that long since I've had a problem with my bird too... My 94 Trans Am 5.7L V-8 is a good little bitch named Becky, well, was a good little bitch up until she started overheating on me on almost a daily basis for the past 3 weeks. This morning we replaced the thermostat and the new thermostat just made the car heat up worse (I think it was faulty), I'm sure the 115 degree Mojave heat isn't good for it either but this is my story. The tempeture gage started going up to 210, well, at that point I would kick the a/c on for a second to kick the fans on, but it just kept getting hotter, and I was driving down the freeway going about 80 at this point, no air conditioning, so I got my fat pregnant butt to my destination all sweaty, hot and bitchy:, with the temp reading almost 240. So I let the car cool to about 180 and drove 20 minutes back home in the same situation, no a/c, 115 degrees ouside, and made my husband go fix my car!!!: We changed the thermostat back to the old one, and as Bud took the battery out to check the one hose on the side, he found a disconnected wire that goes to a little electronic box on the radiator! Well, I don't know if it was the disconnected wire (can someone tell me what that wire is please???) or if it was just the thermostat being a butt, or if Becky was just PMS-ing. But darn it, that bitch's temperature stayed at a cool 190... With me having the air conditioner on, and the temp only dropped as I drove, so I just want to make sure everyone checks that wire also, cause I dunno what it was, but I'm hoping it's fixed for good!!! I HATE this desert!!!
