Re: what to do about the bragger

i think lsvtec is alittle advanced for our friend here. no offence to him he just still seems like a bit of a novice at the engine building stuff. and we have to remember he is on a budget, and lsvtec usually isnt done correctly for around 2k. since hes still gonna need mounts and linkage and axles and all that stuff. I seriously thing the LS swap is good for him if he can find one in a yard or from a friend, then maybe give it a rebuild. And then add a turbo. And if thats still too much with the turbo, then I guess n2o is the way to look, but im not really too into that. And it would be really great if you could pick up a b16 trans liek someone said earlier. The ls and b16 trans would put the turbo D up for a run for its money. Unless hes pushing some serious boost, then I dont think hes doing any better than mid 14s.

Re: what to do about the bragger

I'd wax his ass with sohc and si tranny... all driver... let me borrow some n2o... and if my shit blows up, I'll swap it... LOL... j/k

Seriously, you can go b18 with a cheapo mount kit and some serious weight reduction, but unless you're boosting or have high cr, you still may lose (depending on driver)... quixilver has a b18 with b16 pistons and lightweight flywheel in an hf and he broke into the 14s... not sure if with the bottle? So if this kid is only hitting high 14s like previously stated, you may have a chance. And if he wants to turn up the boost and try again (say best out of 3 runs), you can laugh when he blows his shit up...

Re: what to do about the bragger

The only place I would recomend getting a motor from is www.hmotorsonline.com talk to Steve he will help you out. :thumbsups: Also as everyone else said LS swap and later on down the road you can always gather up all the stuff you need to either boost it or ls/vtec!
