Re: Japanese don't know what "piss off" means.

That's just wrong. There's plenty of fish in the sea, you don't have to go killing off the intelligent ones that have their own language.

I'm with -Davo.

Crimony! What about the poor cows?!?!? They have such sad eyes! ...and their babies are so cute!

Animals is animals. Man is here to dominate them.

Your response is a bit simplistic. With great power comes great responsibility. The point you may have missed is that the Japanese are in the process of fishing these species to the brink of extinction without any outward sign of propriety.

If cows were in short supply I would be saying the same about them, but they are more numerous than people in many places and not in danger of extinction.

Re: Japanese don't know what "piss off" means.

I think this like many topics dealing with conservation is totally blown out of proportion. Whaling in Japan is not that big of a deal. Endangered species are not targeted. They generally get the smaller species....about 10 ft long.

Re: Japanese don't know what "piss off" means.

To clear one thing up:

This thread is about the Japanese kill our* whales in our waters. These whales are endangered, and are in our territory. Dont' compare this to cows, which are specifically bread for my hamburger.

* We don't own them, but we call them our own, because they swik, breed, and live in our waters, not all of the targeted spiecies, but specifically the Humpback Whale, which I have personally had the upmost pleasure of seeing in the waters off the coast of Harvey Bay, in central-clost Queensland (near Fraiser Island - worlds biggest island made of sand). This was remarkable, now they're being illegally hunted for food. In our waters. By the Japanese.

Call the UN. I'm sure they'll get around to passing a resolution in the next decade that everyone will ignore.

Seriously though - if the fishing vessels are there illegally, get you coast guard (or whatever your equivelent is) to arrest them.

Yogs, with your opinion of the UN, I'm quite surprised that you have the faith that they'll act so quickly.

We can't touch them, well, legally we can, but we arn't going to because the government (ours) claim it will "offend the Japanese".

Like their butchuring of endangered whales isn't offensive to anyone? Hypocrites.

Re: Japanese don't know what "piss off" means.

Imagine the reverse - Aussie boats fishing illegally off the coast of Japan. There would be an uproar!!

Its more likely the UN would pass a resolution declaring Austrailia in violation of not spreading wide enough.

We would be captured and held prisoner, and sentenced to 20 years jail

Meanwhile, Japan's fish markets just brought in a fresh new batch of humpback whales caught illegally off the coast of Queensland
