Re: Re: two things maybe interesting...
First photo is #007 after the headlight covers fell off. I don't know the details of it, but there's probably a couple people here who do.
The second one is the converted "Ameritech F1." It was the original means to get F1s into the united states before the show and display regulations were instated. As for the third one...it might have been a one-off customization, or an upgraded exhaust package. |

Re: two things maybe interesting...
IIRC someone said that Frank's lights flew off while he was driving the car
last one is 069. Do a search, you'll find a lot on this particular car |

I've seen them all.
The silver car is the only shot I have ever seen of the exterior on an Ameritech F1, showing the modifications that Amerispec Corp apparently had to make in order to certify them for street use. This photo was published in the Dec 1997 Road & Track article on the McLaren F1. None of the Ameritech F1s still look like that though. In fact, someone who worked for Amerispec claimed that all the changes to the cars were made without making any permanent modifications to the cars, thus allowing them to be easily converted back to stock. Others have claimed that not all of the cars were converted in the first place. The world may never know... The black car is Mr Selldorff's #007, simply missing its headlight covers. I believe the story was that they flew off at speed. There was a thread here before with several other shots of the car in this condition. The last photo you are inquiring about is of chassis #069, the Fox Valley Motorcars F1, that has been discussed here multiple times in the past. The exhaust appears to lack the standard catalytic converters and looks more like what was fitted on the LMs. That exhaust may have been an option of some sort, but it's the only standard F1 road car I have ever seen with it. This was the car that was imported to the US improperly, then the owners attempted to sell it and it was apparently confiscated and possibly deported. >8^) ER |

Re: two things maybe interesting...
Its one of my favourite F1's. Rumors are everywhere about this one, some say it was crushed, i heard it was sitting in customs, others say it went back to the original owner etc etc

Re: two things maybe interesting...
on the exhaust thing, iirc, there was some kind of sport exhaust, i even knew the name once, maybe this is it. If it has the LM exhaust, it is well sporty

There is no evidence that it has been exported. At one time there was a picture of this car along with aFerrari 360, both at the NICB site as investigators examined the cars for Customs and seizure. |

Anybody got that pic? I to would love to know how it ended up back in the UK if indeed it did. I presume at some point the car will be auctioned if its not in the uk? Anybody have any idea what usually happens in this situation?
