I just found the origin of the lt blue/dk blue turn sig wires. They run to to the fuse box under the rear seat. At that point they are connected to rear turn signal bulbs. The modules at the doors are nothing more than a juction block for the turn signals in the mirrors.
The part that confused me, was connecting the mirror harness to the modules. There is NO pin in the non turn sig mirror harness. (Just a open hole, no wire). But there is a input wire going to the module. Just no wiring outputing from the module to the mirror. Like everyone said, tap to the wire going to the module. You have power and ground. Let the mirrors flash away!!! Thanks Rob

Re: Turn Signal Mirror install complete!
I did this last night... Took me a total of an hour and a half straight!
Awesome install... I did exactly what was done on the envoy link... that would be the best for pics etc. The only thing that aggravated me was having to drill the hole in my mirror. Not bad though. It is the best to take apart the whole mirror though. Also I found out that when they tinted my windows they did not put my door panels back on properly... so I fixed that too! If anyone has any questions, please let me know! -Joe

There is no mirror position that provides access to the T10 (not T15) torex screw that holds the old trim/new lens to the mirror. I had to disassemble the mirror body from the bracket that holds it to the truck. The bracket (the piece with the 3 bolts that connect to the TB door) has a vertical .5-inch diameter plastic post, which protrudes through a hole in the mirror body; the mirror body pivots about that post. A spring over the protruding post pushes the mirror down against the bracket (and into preformed detents for the "open" and "folded" positions). The spring is held on, and in a compressed state, by a... uh... "gizmo." The gizmo is a washer having 5 or so "fingers" formed pointing toward the center by cutting away a bit of the washer between each finger. The gizmo is press-fit down over the post, compressing the spring. This deforms the fingers upwardly, and they "bite" into the plastic of the post, holding the gizmo on and the spring compressed. I pried up three or so fingers, enough to release and remove the gizmo. I then separated the mirror body from the bracket, and could get to the T10 torex screw, to remove the old trim and install the new turn signal lens. I bent the fingers back to a flat position by laying the gizmo on the garage floor and prying them down with a large screwdriver. For reassembly, I scrounged up a short piece of pipe about .75-inch diameter. I placed that over the gizmo and tapped it down onto the post (compressing the spring) with a hammer. The rest of the job was just as described at envoystuff.com. The lenses were ~$17 each at my local dealer. They do not sell the gizmo, nor could I find one at hardware store. I found a very much wimpier version of the same thing, but I doubt it would hold that spring. I'm very happy with the result. |

Re: Turn Signal Mirror install complete!
If you fold the mirror to the front, you should have been able to see the screw... Do not fold all the way... but it is there. Same mirrors are on all tb's.

I didnt realize the T15 screw was actuall a T10 one because I just picked a size that I thought would fit, and it did! But, you should be able to access the screw by folding the mirror forward. It usually takes a little more force than folding the mirror back for some reason, but it will work. Thanks for the updates, and good luck!

Re: Turn Signal Mirror install complete!
Interesting to see the price difference...Mine were like 18.00 each... I had to get them from a GMC dealership. I wonder if they cost more depending on the brand dealership you purchase from... ie. Chevy or GMC.

Just installed turn signals today, i can't believe how easy it was. I was lucky enough to find a dealer in Indy that had the parts in-stock. From start to finish it took about an hour and a half. They really look great.

Re: Turn Signal Mirror install complete!
Installed in 2.5 hours, looks very good.
the lenes cost me 12.2 B.D. that turns to be 32.3 USD. No holes was drilled and i didn't remove the mirror, I managed to pass the wires a long the old ones using a tiny fish tape. |

Replaced mine this weekend. Nice mod, went much faster on the second door once I knew what I was doing.
One thing I noticed, when putting the mirrors back on the vehicle, make sure you push the mirrors up and forward when your tightening the three mounting bolts. While washing my car, I noticed a gap between the top of the mirror and the door, so I had to remove the door panels and re-tighted the mirrors. |
