And don't forget all the custom modifications. Even the supplies will cost a lot. I doubt that a Grand Prix is the same length as a Skyline, so you'll probably have to custom make that driveshaft.

That's only $3250, but you still need to buy your slicks.

Re: $5000 build-up game

Re: $5000 build-up game

Pfftt..,I'll take the $5000 and invest into stocks. Then 10 years from now, after the interest builds up real nicely, I'll buy and build up something much nicer and cheaper then. Gotta think towards the future ya know?

Sounds like bullshit to me unless he had suspension and a built rear. And where you gonna get a motor and transmission for $50? And theres so much more you'd need to make that work. You really can't build a fast car with $5,000. Just a temporary toy.

Yes and no. It depends on how fast you want to go. High 12s low 13s, 5k is enough and it will last a pretty long time. But if your definition of fast is 10s, you might get like a couple of runs for $5k

$5,000 can get you a reliable mid 13 second car. From my experience, thats what I have found to be true.

1989 Chrysler LeBaron GTC: $600
Full 3" mandrel bent exhaust, downpipe, and sv: $750
Turbos Unleashed custom thermal coated header: $500
Mopar Performance +40 injectors: $152
Walbro 255 l/hr high pressure fuel pump: $120
FWD Performance stage 4 ECU: $185
3 bar MAP sensor: $75
Spearco 1,080 CFM FMIC: $550
Modified 1st generation DSM shift valve: $45
Apexi intake: $185
Garrett GT28RS dual ball bearing turbo (disco potato): $1,600

That comes to $4,762 and the rest would be eaten up with hardware like T-clamps, silicone couplers, and intake tubing. Anyhow, that would all be good for around 350-400 WHP at 30 PSI. Wheel torque would be close to 500 or more. They are VERY torquy motors. That would be good for at least low 11s in the 1/4. If I had another $1,500 for headwork that would probably break it into the 10s.
