Re: Re: 5 Minute Shut Down

Had the same issue when the car was warmed up the CPS would cause all kinds of issues. Funny thing is that I had replaced it a year or so before with a part from a replacement parts place. I then went to the dealers and bought one there even though it was a little more. I have not had anymore issues since then. I would suggest a dealer sensor.

Local dealer sez it's about $32.00 and they have em. Dealer (tech) reports that it's a rarity...they of course say that I can "bring it in to have them check it" (NOT).

So...guess we get together $32.00 and see what kind of trouble i can get into.

Re: 5 Minute Shut Down

My sensor checked out okay but when it was warmed up it would check incorrectly. Keep that in mind since you cant get to the sensor until the vehicle cools and then its testing okay. If they let you return the part after installed then I would just try a new one. Good luck.

So, let me get this straight, your NEW sensor checked out okay except when it warmed up or the OLD one checked okay except when warm? And then if it was the old one was bad, changing the CTS sensor should be the fix?

Lemme know.

Re: Re: Re: 5 Minute Shut Down

The old sensor checked out bad only when we could warm the sensor up. I would hope that replacing the sensor corrects the issue but check out the return policy first. That way it makes your decision much easier.

Thumbs up

Okay...i'm sure the dealer isn't going to take the part back, but since my car is 13 yrs old, 173k/miles on it, it prob is original and at this point, i'm not puttin "Fred" out to pasture yet.

Thanks...again...everyone!

No, actually "Fred" is what my 12 yr old son and I named the car when we bought it a year ago. Any Saturn's that i've had the pleasure to drive have been given names...something about them having a Personality then.

I'll post this in a new thread...about the names...

I knew someone who had a 95 SL1 named Sassy and a 96 SL2 named Max.

Re: 5 Minute Shut Down

Any Luck with yours I replaced the wiring for the ETCS Saturday but have not had time to even test drive it. After replacing the CPS with a Saturn unit that did not help at all. Good Luck

Uhmmm....need some of that funny stuff called Money...

And a job would help. I have another vehicle to use until I get the Saturn fixed...fortunately not a Ford...
