That's what I plan on doing. That subwoofer is insanely heavy and I don't feel like using my finger nails to get under the rim of the basket and gasket to grab a hold of the sub and pull it out. I like having fingernails.

Oh yeah, and still no amp. I'm crossing my fingers it will arrive tomorrow.

Amazed by the subwoofer with the damaged surround. I'm sure it'll still sound great though. I seriously can't wait.

Re: Only this would happen to me...

OH MY GOD! Ok lol, sorry but Im not laughing at you, Ive been an installer for about 2 years (professionally) and well, Ive done that about...hmmm probley 30 times! So just so you dont think youre the only one to puncture through a surround. It sux but you are lucky. Usully with me, my dewault ends up in the sub box ok, maybe not that bad but you can usually put a quarter through it.

Rofl. That'd be a HUGE hole if it ended up in the box, lol. Yeah, I was using a dewalt myself. Very nice drills. I"m just so glad that it didn't do anything detrimental to the subwoofer. Really glad I didn't smash through the cone.

Re: Only this would happen to me...

Yep, use to have this one installer that seemed to do the same all the time. So, we made a cone cover that you placed over the speaker when drilling or screwing. That way if you slipped, you hit the cover and not the speaker. It sure made the rate of punctured subs go down to 0 in a short time.

I poked a hole straight through the cone of one of my MTX 6000's when i first got into car audio...boxed it back up, took it back to HH Gregg and told them i found it like that. LOL, they sent it back under Manufacturer defect and i got a new one! peace

Yeah well that stuff does not fly with me. I was having people returning stuff with holes in it. I'd say to them "man, this happens to all the speakers. There's always a hole in the cone right next to the mounting hole!!!"

Now, I have the customer inspect the speaker infront of me or the sales person before it leaves the store. Guess what? I haven't had a return for a hole since I started doing that!

Re: Only this would happen to me...

to those who noticed the diagram of my enclosure on the weird noise at low volume thread, my port is firing between the seats where the black plastic piece is in the trunk of threeds grand prix. we have the same car, the black is an armrest and a locking door for access to the trunk
