I don't think you'll have issues with tire rub, except possible at full steering lock. I wasn't as concerned about how wide they were, as much as how much taller they might be than stock. If you get a rub at full lock, don't get yourself in a situation where you need it. I almost never use full steering lock. The AE rims you are looking at are backspaced a 1/2" deeper than mine so you should almost end up with the same outside look. Maybe an inch further out, but I doubt it. 16x10's would stick you out another 1 1/2" from what you see in that front view I sent you.

Re: Everyones opinion on these rims

Pro Comps aren't too bad. I ordered mine through a local store, but they were the first ever shipped out from Pro Comp (wow-must mean they're special!) anyway, there were no "set" prices yet cause they were new. So I was at the mercy of the dealer really. Mine in a 16x8 were $201.00 with mounting and powder balancing. Check on 4wheel parts.com for their prices. That should give you a rough figure. Really, they aren't too bad price wise, the quality and warranty make up for it.

Re: Everyones opinion on these rims

Go to 4wheelparts.com and select pro comp extreme alloys under wheels and tires.
Check out the 6089's. They have come out with numerous new sizes for 2005 that aren't listed on this site, or pro-comp's yet, but if you call and ask, they can tell you the new sizes. Mine are the same as the 6089's, but picture the center (spoke) portion in black powdercoat, and the portions of the bead that says "pro comp extreme" in black also. then the whole rim is also powdercoated clear too. The chrome plated ones are awesome too.

You'll probably have to re-balance anytime you swap rims, If your keeping the same tires. You need to think about the stress being placed on the bead of the tires if you are gonna do this as a seasonal thing. Might be easier to mount a summer/winter set of tires, but then I'm not spending your money. Price sounds about right. I got my 4 for $575 American.

The eagle's are fine, but NOT coated/powdercoated/teflon or anything else. I used to do the swap for Winter thing too, but after paying to have mine remounted/balanced twice a year, ($55.00 US x2) I wasn't saving anything over going with something year round. They may be $45-$50 more a piece, but in time it will pay for itself. just a side note too, the Eagles I have seen are painted on the inside (part the tire covers). This is to help seal the seam inside the rim. The owner here of the Eagle dealer said (maybe BS) that Eagle had alot of problems with leaks internally, so now they paint the inside as a sealant. He has had to replace numerous sets from leaks. They are also NOT warrantied for finish, like American Racing. One trip through the salt, and their done. And no, I don't work for Pro-Comp Just trying to give you some ideas is all.

Whichever wheel you decide to go with, I'd suggest having them powder balanced. At least I really like it. At the goodyear shop here they call it 'equal compound'. Good for the life of the tire and you don't have to worry about the chemical reaction between the wheel and the weights. Maybe others can offer their opinion (good or bad) before you get them mounted.

Everyone has an opinion on what looks best in wheels, get the ones you like and you'll be happy.

Re: Everyones opinion on these rims

a set of winter tires is pretty much out of the question, since im pretty much at my spending limit now lol. that does suck about gettin a balancing twice a year....i might know a shop that could do it cheaper though. what about a teflon coated rim, would that really stand up to the salt? the american racing teflon ones claim to do that. the guy at the shop has a set of polished eagles on his truck, he said he just sprayed them with oil and left them on in the winter.

i am going to check out the pro comps before i go down too.

Re: Everyones opinion on these rims

A trick we use here that actually works, it Pam Cooking spray. You have to spray it on every 2-3 days, and it will make them look like squat, but it does help tremendously at keeping the salt/deicer from eating them. It's just a bitch to get off! Lots of scrubbing!! I have a set of Teflon Victors on my wife's Yukon. They work well, just rinses right off, like a cooking pan. BUT, after 8 months, I still can't get them to balance out right. Maybe worth a look though? Good luck!!
