I am thinking of buying a 300zx. They are my all time favorite car. My dad has the 84 anniversary, my uncle has a tricked out 280z and my other uncle has a 92 300z NA. Anyway, I really want to buy one, but I can't afford a the turbo version yet. Can I buy the NA Z and add the turbo later? Or possibly the whole engine? Are the wiring harnesses different, any real differences in the body? My decision on buying a Z hinges on this post, so please be sure of your info. Thanks for any help.

i've heard your better off just buying the turbo z because its not worth the cost it takes to do the swap

I would recommend to increase your savings and go for the twin turbo, as there are other differences , as the Hicas, the system that turns the rear tires on hard turning, for high speed cornering.
I wouldn’t advise you to try to turbo charge the normally aspirated engine, as the electronics have to be changed, even the tires sized are different, clutch is hydraulic, with vacuum assistance, and other differences, that brings up the point, that you would have a headache trying to transform the NA to TT |

As said b4...it would take about $7K to do it properly and I have personally spoke w/2 Nissan mechanics who say it won't work too well. Better off saving the $7K and selling your car and getting a TT.
