I have a 1994 Montero SR with the 3.5 liter engine. Had the motor looked at for because of hesitation, backfire, and overheat issues. Verdict is that it needs a new top end at a minimum. I would prefer to install a newer motor overall, but 3.5 liters are in short supply and very expensive. Can a 3.0 liter be installed with minimal issues? or are there other options Im not thinking of.

Why put a newer engine in? Just rebuild your engine. If done properly it will outlast a NEW engine from Mitsu. |
