Hey all ... couple months ago I swaped a jdm b16 hydro into my gen 5 civic LX..... when I got all done everything worked great ... but than the check engine light came on .... looked up the code and it was a KNOCKSENSOR ..... did a little research and found there is no really damage for running with out this wire hooked up .... now the check engine light only comes on after i rev into the VTEC .. still just the Knocksensor code... any ideas why ?
2nd question .... some A$$ hole broke into my car about a month ago .. ransacked it pritty good .. did bout 1000 worth of dammage to it now i have this black stearing wheel and a tan airbag ... argggg ... the problem is the plug (im guessing its a plug) in the stearing collom has come lose ... the SRS (airbag) warning light has come on .. the horn dosent work and the cruz controle is not working .. does anybody know where i can get a blueprint to show me where this plug is and how to get to it ? I know this is kinda long but thanks for all the help :grey: |

Re: Knock Sensor
The knock sensor wires need to be added to your cars wiring harness which is why the computer is complaining. The ECU uses the knock sensor to adjust timing and fuel to prevent detonation damage. If it doesn't see it, it believes the sensor's broken or the wires have come lose either way, you should and need to wire it up so it'll stop complaining and you don't screw your engine slowly.
As for your electrical problems, If your car's this messed up and you don't know what you're doing, why didn't you take it to Honda and have insurance pick up the tab?

U understand that the knock sensor wire needs to to be run to the D3 pin possition in the ecu ... my question is why i no longer have a Hard Code (meaning that it dosent trip right away ... it waits till i hit vtec b4 comming on )
and as for the steering wheel problem .. i didnt turn it into insurance because i have a 500 dollar deductable ... and it wasent worht it for the price to fix it cuz it would raise my rates ... I know its just a plug that has come loose in the collum i was just wondering if there was an online honda manual or anything like that so i could see exactley where the plug is at better than just ripping it apart and looking right ? thanks for the help

Ahh, I see. You're talking tamayto, I'm talkin tamahto
Ok so you already wired it and it's still giving you the code when Vtec trips. One, you're leaning out at high rpms causing the alarm or....You got me I'm assuming you are using the right ECU. I've heard of cases where the wrong UCUwas used and therefor the wrong code is interpretted. And as for the other thing, you need to get a Helm's service manual. But if you want to check the "plug" in the steering wheel, rotate it so that the H is upside-down and then there is a small panel that is held on with one screw I believe. Remove the panel and there is the plug for the SRS system in the steering wheel. But frankly it sounds like there were fuses blown somewhere as well.
