my anatomy profeesor told me it the "spasming of muscles" i hope i spelled the right. either way the owner needs to take reasponsibility for the dogs action. now those lawsuits.....maybe taken a bit overboard.

I gotta agree with you on that one. Its just like parents of school yard bullies... They feign responsibility because it's not their problem, its yours for not standing up for yourself.
I had a neighbor with a chow-chow that was always tied up even when they were home. They never played with it, hardly ever fed it and their teenage son was constantly teasing and throwing stuff at the dog until he got so wound up he would'nt stop barking and snarling for hours. I came home one day and the dog was not in their yard. It ended up breaking the chain and wandering the neighborhood. When my friends kids were getting off the school bus the dog charged all of them, basiclly trapping all the kids inside. The driver tried everything to make the dog leave but it just wouldn't. So she pulled forward and the dog starts biting the tires...Well long story short, the bus driver ended up running the dog's head over and killed it because it refused to move...The damn owners of the dog tried to sue the bus driver for negligence in killing their pride and joy. I think owners of "BAD DOGS" should be neutered and put to sleep...Along with their angry animals!

you know how when you want to adopt a child you have to go though a backround check and they go to your house and make sure the child will have proper care, why the hell dont they do that when you go to get a dog!!!

well said. back to the topic.....this thread is getting a little old but if you know your dog is a tough breed you should be responsible. Dogs don't think like humans. I shouldn't be punished because of you mess up.

Because it takes time and money. A lot of private breeders I know do this though. They come over to your house meet your other dogs tell you what you need to do to puppy-proof the house and make sure you have some sort of a yard for the pup to run around in. Made me feel real good when the breeder did this before we bought our shepherd it showed me that he cared about the life of the puppy over the money he was making.
