dude if you're worried about gas mileage get a hybrid civic, or toyota prius. and the Cobalt isn't american made, the frams is from a Renault....thy're made over seas. I'm not really into Cobalts cause I didn't like the cavalier, but w/the supercharger the SS should be pretty quick, and maybe I'll change my mind.

Re: Cobalt vs other 2005's

actually man, you got it backwards. the manuals get better highway mileage because they have zero slippage in the drivetrain. and tend to have lower overdrive ratios due to modern transmissions being six speed manuals and four speed automatics. If a manual were handicapped due to higher rpm operation it would be in city driving. check the fuel economy ratings of a car that has both a manual and auto tranny offering, the manual will be rated higher in gas mileage.

I'd take a look at the Malibu, can get the V6 in that car and prices should start coming down soon, the Cobalt is actually hard to find on lots around here so prices will be near sticker for a while. Seeing lots of the Malibus around here lately so they must have something going for them. Too many doors for me.

i'd highly reccomend checking out subaru. They have the forrester which is actually a ver quick car whose specs are comparable to a cobalt i believe. It also gets about 24mpg. If you don't like the wagon style then there's always the impreza RS which is a wrx without a turbo. Basically the same car as the forrester in a different style. But, if you can afford it the WRX is pretty fast. Also, the turbo forrester gets 13.8 in the 1/4 mile..... pretty fast for a wagon.

Re: Cobalt vs other 2005's

do not get a malibu, i have one and they arent good on gas at all. i saw a cobalt the other day and i thought it looked kinda different but i didnt really like it all that much, it was ok. lol talking about cavaliers... you could get one with a 400hp motor... they changed the name of the one to GTO tho . sure the styling is different from most cars but ive always kinda liked the look of a zx3 focus or the SVT.

Hummm. A 400 HP Cavalier sounds kind of interesting. Not for $35,000 though. I'd go for a new Mustang GT myself, love that car.
