Oh shit! Sweet deal! Looks like I'll have to take another bicycle equity loan out(I owe $2000 on a $65 Wal-Mart special). This is completely worth it though. The idea to make an engine, only $200 Canadian! Glad I got good friends like you to sell me such quality stuff. I must admit though I shed a tear when I found out that the cigar-smoking monkey was free with purchase :22yikes: ...thanks so much man!!

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

it seems with my ls-1 i average 29-30 mpg so it makes a good daily driver. but ls-1 aftermarket performance can be costly but im a miser so i dont care.

yup, not at all uncommon. some Z06's knock down 32 with calm driving on the highway. its called combustion efficiency ladies and gents.

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

Yes the LS1 is a powerful and efficient engine indeed, but as was mentioned before, Is not an economical choice for swapping into a third gen.. Although anyone who accomplished it would definatly have my respects, I think an idea like that would be best left to a show car..

The reason I suggested a stroked 383 is because thats what I plan on doing with my Z when I get some cash together.. Then, You could do all the research and work, and let me know how it goes?

And he didnt say ANYTHING about efficiency!

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

logically for that year car the same as mine the TPI 383 would be killer. I've seen a 355tpi but not a 383tpi and i've only seen one ls1 swap into that year. fbodymotorsports did it as like a promotion for there kit.

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

From what I have read/seen/heard, the fastest N/A fbody is actually an LT1 (~9.52@142mph) with the LS1 not far behind (~9.71@139)... The opposites is true for power adder engines... I believe the fastest forced induction fbody is an LS1 (~8.52@163mph) with the LT1 not far behind (~8.96@154mph)...

I think either way you slice it, you are going to find that both will end up in about the same power bracket once you've taken them to their respective limits, the trick is figuring out which one will make the most power for what YOU are willing to spend...

The LS1 out of the box will straight up own an LT1... hands down... both engines react well to modifications, but at times the LS1 mods can be more pricey... However, when compared to SBC parts, the LT1's parts are quite pricy too...

a 383 SBC should be able to handle either a stock LS1 or LT1 as long as it is set up properly, but a fully 383 SBC build is not cheap either...

I think you'll be happy regardless of which way you go, so probably find what is easiest and works best for you car, and go with that...
