Re: are these subs good

none.. bandpasses are boxes that have to be VERY carefully desinged and they are specifically designed based on the parameters of the sub(s) you plan to run in it. AND even if you desing it correctly it usually still loses a ton of SQ because they are usually peaky and only sound good (loud) for a small range of frequencies.

SO.. basically even if you had a bandpass designed for the exact sub you want then i still wouldnt suggest it because i dont liek the way they sound. ..

but that box doesnt have any subs it was specifically designed for (im assuming) so its like a double no.

Re: are these subs good

bandpasses CAN sound good...... they just don't 99.9% of the time. I usually keep enclosure choices limited to sealed ported and tlines.

you act like a professional couldnt even build a good bandpass box without luck. Yea, its true you dont just slap any subs into any b-pass box and get away with it, but, its not too hard to get a good combo. I've heard a 10 in a bandpass box, it was probably all of a cubic foot total. It had awesome SQ. It was a sub and box combo, though, so the box and sub were designed for each other, but its not like there are no 10's for 100$ that are made for bandpass boxes.

P.S. Not everything has to be expensive to sound good. Good is subjective, based on opinions, and someone with a boss amp may not appreciate the little differences that you think make something go from PIECE OF SHIT, to sounding great. And about it being a big difference.. that is subjective too, based on opinions. I respect all of your inputs on car audio, but you are all very predictable. RE, SE, Adire, ED, ..... those are not the only brands that people will be happy with. They may be better from a professional, or car audio nut's standpoint, but instead of telling somebody that Audiobahn and Rockford and MTX are all useless pieces of shit, you should explain that to them.

DITTO. My first real system consisted of a Radion Targa amp and 2 Dr. Krankingstein 10" subs in a bandpass box. Being in an Ext. Cab S10, it sounded awesome. Now, take that same box and put it in a hatchback and it would sound terrible.

MTX, Fosgate and others in that line are good entry level pieces but not one thing is for everyone.

Re: are these subs good

all im saying is i dont like bandpass at all.. as i have yet to hear one with decent SQ.. but..

i didnt mean to say anything too harsh about brands.. obviously.. my car started with all sony. haha and im still stuck with 2 speakers and a HU (although the HU isnt bad)..

im just saying youll never know how much power the amp is putting out and youll never know when its gonna blow if its a shitty brand.. if it works well for you then good for you. BUT.. while hes at this very early stage he might as well do some sort of an upgrade just to save him time and money

Those Tru Techs aren't that much money. I was on their site checking them out and actually considering getting one for my front stage when I get those in. IS PG actually a decent company? Or are they a decent budget company?

Re: are these subs good

Phoenix gold is pretty good. And check Tru's prices they're expensive as hell esp. for the t03's.
