flowmaster on 02 civic?

I just got a 2002 Civic and I want to have an exhaust with a nice deep sound and I was thinkin about a flowmaster muffler. Would this sound good or would it just be ricey and make people cringe as I drive by? Thanks for any input

Re: flowmaster on 02 civic?

I'm thinking rice on this one. A 2 chamber Flowmaster will sound deep but wont sound right on a Civ. My friend has them on his Saturn and it just sound like he has a hole in his muffler. If your only interested in sound go with a APexi muffler. 4bangers with flows never sounded right to me. There is a thread with the same exact topic and recommndations 18 posts below this one. Check that out for further answers.

Flowies don't sound right on a 4banger. My friend had one on his 89 Accord it didn't buzz, but it sounded a lot like my other friend's exhaust on his Toyota PU.

I have a flowmaster muffler on my civic and to me it sunds really good. It's not too deep and it doesnt buzz. But I also have a larger pipe comming from the cat down the muffler and my resonater is no longer on the car. I guess it all depends on what you like.

If you are looking for a nice, deep, somewhat "throaty" sound (well, as throaty as a 4 banger can get), try a custom exhuast system. A good exhaust tech will kow how to tune the sound to your liking. Use good qaulitu universal muffer, 2 1/4" Mandrel Bent piping and a resonator. I know from experince, an 18" Resonator will really help deepen the tone. Get the muffler and then go to a good performance muffler place and find a guy who knows his stuff. Tell him you want it to sound throaty and deep and not high pitched and whiney. If he's any good at his trade, he can build you an exhuast to fit that discription.

I just installed a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler (model 17762) in my 2001 Civic EX. I'm very pleased with the results. The sound is low and deep but not raucous. I looked into many others and Dynomax offered the best for me.
