I just want to try and keep people from putting in some cams and then get disapointed because they did not see the gains they thougt they would. When this happens some people give up on N/A. Basically with a good N/A setup one parts is going to require another to function to its highest ability. But don't get me wrong with the ITR cams you will notice an improvement, I am not saying that it would eb worthless.

Ummm... yeah they did make an JDM ITR is later '95. The CTR is the one they didn't start to make until late '97. But didn't start making the ITR for the US until '97. And the gearing between the '95-'97's was slightly different than the late '97-'00 tranny. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/F...GearRatios.htm

well since you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about setups and applications how should i go about having a decent n/a gsr? there are so many brands and parts. all i want is a well balanced setup that will last me with just normal maintenance. I started this thread because my tranny is going to shit so i decide on getting decent one. then you bring up the relation between cams and tranny. i don't have a huge budget but i'm willing to spend on quality parts.

Re: GSR tranny worth saving?

If you plan on getting some cams that will move your power band up in the rpm range then go ahead and get the ITR tranny. Swapping in the ITR tranny is not going to be a bad thing, I just wanted you to realize that the ITR tranny is not going to make a huge difference, and that you can't really take full advantage of it's capabilities because the stock B18C1's power range is not in the same rpm range as the ITR. Just remember that one part usually needs another part to perform to its potential, but they will usually give an increase by themselves.
