so can i still put on the aftermarket steering wheel with HICAS adapter?

Re: Racing steering wheel and hub for HICAS?

91-93 hatches had it as an option and R32 through R34 GT-Rs had it standard. Some Z32 also had it.

Re: Racing steering wheel and hub for HICAS?

logik, im not sure if the sensor plate is attached to the wheel, or the steering spindle, i think it is attached to the spindle, so you wouldnt need to attach it to the wheel anyway. the problem comes in when the racing wheel hub pushes up against the sensor, unless you cut the hub, or machine the hub to clear the sensor, it will be a nuissance.

not sure if anyone has successfully done that

xcessive,
im not sure i know of this "HICAS adapter" you're talking about. the bottom line is, if the racing hub you have wont clear the hicas angle sensor, and you dont machine it to work, then in order to have an aftermarket steering wheel, you will have to remove the sensor, and delete any hicas functions. you will just have to take the factory wheel off and try it to know what im talking about.

ive installed like 6 aftermarket steering wheels, and the hicas one was the only one to give me trouble. and i know of no aftermarket wheel hubs made with special clearances for hicas or other sensors. its just a matter of preference

Re: Racing steering wheel and hub for HICAS?

Ok so if when i'm looking at a 240 for me is there ne marks, badges, indicators of a hicas system besides the the sensor. I doubt the person letting me look at the car is going to let me take off there steering wheel.

Re: Racing steering wheel and hub for HICAS?

on the side of the car, just in front of the rear wheels on the black trim stripe, it will say "super hicas." and if the car has been re-painted and doesnt have trim, look under the hood by the passenger side firewall, i believe all hicas cars had abs brakes, so there will be a box with a bunch of little brake lines running to it. all no hicas models had standard brakes, i believe. other than that, you can lay down behind the car and look at the diff, the hicas cars had a finned diff cover, and a hydraulic cylinder mounted to the back of the diff, so thats another way to tell, and of course, theres a dummy light next to the steering column, on the right, that says hicas

good luck in the 240 search, but probably 90% of the cars dont have hicas.. so not a big problem

Re: Racing steering wheel and hub for HICAS?

On a scale of one to ten, SR is like a 1, RB25 is like a 3 and RB26 is like a 10.
