Re: Relationships vs religion

Basically all religions base on what the afterlife is, upon how you lived your life(except for the catholics, cuz you just go to confession and it's all good. lol). Anybody know why it is that when you say you don't believe in religion that you get bashed all the way around? I feel like i get ripped on for not believing any of, more than those who do believe. In my personal experiances, Catholics are the worst about persecuting non-believers. Peace-

Re: Relationships vs religion

If you are both strong believers in your respective faiths and they are conflicting, then you need to decide whether or not this person is right for you and if they are, then you can put those differences aside. Most religions tend to teach tolerance toward other religions also; therefore, you should be able to accept the other persons beliefs as their own and move on w/ your life.

Re: Relationships vs religion

the thing is there is the reasoning behind it. mormons, from what i have seen, have focused solely on their own benefit, where as others have put themselves before others and as a result of that they are rewarded...but not eleveated to another god or anything

but, i done with this, i dont want it to get long and drawn out...that is my 2 cents.

Wow.....this thread is like The Star "Miss a day, miss a lot"

I must disagree with this comment. Its true of most major religions such as all Christian franchises I can think of and Islam, but not for others.
For example, the Jewish faith is generally not expansionist. The Jews believe themselves to be the chosen people (in the eyes of God) and generally do not actively seek to recruit others.
You can convert to the Jewish faith, but jews generally do not go out of their way to converty others.

IMHO the very act of recruiting others shows a lack of respect and tolerance for other faiths, other belief systems and for other people in general............another reason why organised religion is not for me.
