Charger SRT-10

Hey all!!! I'm sad to say that i'm not a dodge muscle car owner, but i do own a mopar, a jeep GC. I've always loved mopars, especially chargers and challengers. I'd even looked into getting one, but the insurance rates are outrageous for a 17 yr old anyway, and it would be way to expensive to get full coverage without registering it as a classic car. And if i did that i'd only get to drive it 2,500 miles a year!!!! I go to the mopar nationals every year with my dad and we both drool over all of the sweet rides of the 60's and 70's. I don't know how many times he's told me the story of his old 70 road runner drag car. bored over 440, 600 hp, pull the front end off the ground with no problem, yada yada yada.
Anyways, I'm going off to college next year and after that i plan on taking over the corporate world. Haha shoot big! ya never know!! So when i make my million or billion, i'm either going to buy my dad his dream car of a gold and black 70' charger R/T S/E (one identical to the one that my uncle owned and when he sold it my grandparents would not let my dad purchase it)...... 3 weeks later they kid who bought it wrapped it around a telephone pole.... and for me i'd like a cobalt blue 70' challenger R/T S/E with black interior, 4sp pistol grip, and a 383.
Another thing i REALLY would like to have for the both of us would be a Black 70' Charger frame and body (prefferably 340 or undesired car, to prevent further demise of original cars) and then i'd take a Viper V-10 motor, tranny, brakes, and hopefully suspension. For the interior i'd go totally custom with Viper seats in the front and totally redo all of the dash, console, etc., make it look totally unique. It'd be really cool to have the best car of both my era and my dad's all wrapped into one hell of an incredible machine!!!!

Re: Charger SRT-10

i'm not a mopar fan but i respect the way you think with the cusomizing and stuff... how you would take an undesired charger to mess with... i hate seeing beautiful cars all chopped to hell so they can make a trip down a track... us buick fans don' have to worry about it because since it's a Buick it's not worthy of racing i guess :\ oh well at least your thinking of the muscle car legacy and not just a 1/4 time, the world could use more people like you

Re: Charger SRT-10

Hmm sounds like a plan, the 70 charger R/T that me and my pops have in the garage is gold, but it's original color was HEMI orange (the stupid hill billy we bought it from had it repainted).

Re: Charger SRT-10

Wow, that's awesome, you think that engine'll sound the like original big blocks from the days of yore (aka like mid/late 60's to early 70s)???

it would sound like a Viper, unless you changed the camshaft for something more choppy. the mufflers would make a big differrence too, but it wouild definately be a smoother idle than the old musclecars, since it's a V10...less crank rotation between cylinder firings

Re: Charger SRT-10

Well, I don't think there is such a thing as an undesirable Charger, unless it's completly rusted, and unsavable. A V-10 Charger would be unique. If you REALLY want a sleeper, get a 3rd gen. They are usually the less powerfull of the Chargers. Also, they have HUGE wheel wells, to you don't really need to tub them as much, if that's your plan.
