3" on a 1st gen, 2" on a second. You shouldn't have to extend the steering, if you have to extend the linkage on the 1st gen a piece comes with it to do that, second gens use a cable so no need for that one, for the steeriing wheel you may or may not have to use the included adapter on the 1st gen.

Body Style: 1st gen=85-94 in SUV, 85-93 in pickup, 2nd gen=95-03 in SUV, 94-current in pickup. 3rd gen=current (colorado, ranier, envoy, et-al)

good to know, then. i have a 2nd gen. so 2'' would be max before i get to looking like a crazy fool?

2" is what they make max in the body lifts... I can't wait for a 5" trailmaster lift for mine

hahaha, that would be nice. You gonna get one soon? I saw an s10 with a very sweet rancho lift the other day. I think it was a zr2 tho.
