Completed LM Contest Entry: Toyota 88C Taka Q

I finished my LM contest entry today, and just managed to get some outdoor pics done before it started raining. It's entered in the 1/24 curbside category.

For those that haven't seen the progress thread, this is a Hasegawa kit of the Taka Q sponsored Toyota 88C which raced in the 1988 Le Mans 24hrs, driven by P.Barilla (I), H.Ogawa (J) and T.Needell (GB). The car qualified 12th but only managed to finish the race in 24th position after mechanical problems, however just to finish the 24 hour race is an achievement.

Hasegawa have done a fairly good job with this kit, and I think that they are a somewhat underrated company. Everything in the kit was up to Tamiya quality, except the decals which were a bit tricky. The colours i used were TS-29 Semi Gloss black and TS-47 Chrome Yellow. I think i did a fairly good job of building this model on a budget, that meant i used no clear coat, no microsol/set and only a few brushes.

Also, a big thank you to the kind (anonymous) AF member who sent me a replacement windscreen (you know who you are )

I am considering entering the 1/24 non-curbside category, maybe with a Porsche 911 GT1 in a new livery. Until then, enjoy the pics and share your comments with me.

That is a great build, I had this kit (Tamiya Version) way back in 1990 when I was dabbling with Le Mans 24hr models. Looks great, Very Realistic looking, keep it up.

Definitely looks good. That Taka-Q livery is a pain to get right. (I should know, I have the Tamiya Taka-Q 88-CV and I botched the decals something awful)

Best of luck in the contest.

Hey congratulations on getting your contest entry finished! Hasegawa are a great company and you've done an equally great job with their kit! Fantastic looking model, car and livery.

One suggestion - you might want to get some clearer pics so the judges can better appreciate your build.

End result looks good. Did you use the kit decals or ST27? Did you paint the white and yellow stripes, or are they decals also?

I used the kit decals in the end, they weren't so bad but they weren't exactly the best decals i've ever used. I thought that buying the S27 ones would be too expensive compared with the kit ones which i had.

Sorry about the pics, the weather wasn't so good and i don't think my camera is working properly. Anyway, i took a couple of indoor shots of the car (now in formation with the rest of my collection, i have just noticed how dusty they are )

I hope these look better.
If you want me to take any other pics just ask
