Re: 3000GT meets an SUV worth losing to...

Actually as much as I hated my old car (sunfire) I am glad doctor law caught me when I was driving abusing that car and not a GT. If I had the GT back then who knows what I would have done. I respect speed now, and can be responsible for a car. The HP race is crazy, but let it be. I think the race should slow for the low end cars, but if German dreams keep competing, let them...We cant (speaking for us middle class) afford the cars anyway, and neither will the punk kids learning to drive.

well i learned to in my moms turbo s vw bug and that thing puts out 180 hp the thing is so top heavy that you feel like it going to flip on all most all turns that is scary.
but i drive a 2002 dodge intrepid R/T and it isn't top heavy at all thank god.

I mean thats alot of power and speed for a small amount of money, and when you can get these cars used for anywhere from 10-15g's, that makes these cars easy to buy as a first car.
the Evo is not in that same category bud, Its not even in the price range you mentioned and the hp is 275.

the rest are just faster overglorified grocery getters (Except for the SRT). the cobalt SS still has to prove itself though. the SRT is fast, way fast, I wont deny that. but cars like the Mazdaspeed protoge, SE-R, SVT Focus and Redline are just jokes in terms of stock hp, I think this thread is refering to more aggressive, way more powerfull cars. btw, you say your first car was a 115 hp cavalier......isnt that the same car you have now except you SC'ed it?
