hood won't open! any ideas on how 2 open?

cable is taught and seems fine from the interior hood release handle into the front of the car

Any idea on how I can open the hood if the hood release is not working would be GREATLY appreciated or what I can do with the cable too try and make it work.

It seems like a simple cable.

Thank you!

Re: hood won't open! any ideas on how 2 open?

had the same problem with my truck when I first got her... have someone sit in the car holding the hood pop latch out/pulled. Then you go up to the front and try to get your fingers/something in between the hood and the bumper. A few thumps may be required. If this is a suddenly occuring problem, check your cable from the interior latch to the hood latch. Also, with someone holding the latch to the open position, lower the hood slowly into the latch, making sure everything is lining up. Luckily, hood latches are way easy to replace. If the problem has been around for a while, check the rubber stoppers/springs in the latch for wear and tear. Good luck.

Same thing happened to my rent's minivan. I had to tug on the cable with a pair of plyers while my dad hit the edge of the hood until it popped. It ended up being just a slightly rusted latch, and some WD-40 fixed the problem from happening again.
Here's a useless fact about WD-40 that has nothing to do with this topic. WD-40 was named that because it was the 40th attempt to get the right mixture to do the job. Yes, I'm a

thanks so much for the ideas. Tried the plyers but didn't have anyone up front working the hood. Sounds like a good way to work out any pent up aggression as well !

Thanks again!
