Re: 2.2 to 3.1 swap..is it worth it?

3.1 is the most reliable engine gm ever made. i had one in my 1995 lumina, drove the shit out of it, and sold it with 175,000 miles on it. drive like new, no stalling or shaking at all, started up perfectly. i wish i could have that motor in my car

to change from one engine type to another requires more parts than it's worth to even attempt. You would need a complete donor car with all of the following to do the swap:
engine, engine wiring harness, ECM, motor mounts, hoses (heater and radiator), and possibly radiator, cooling fans, etc.... You'd be better off just buying a car with the engine you want already there.

it's worth it

I operate a big Automotive Recycling Facility (Junk Yard), I've sold more 2.4l (sunfire GT and Cav Z24) than I have a 3.1l - the 3.1L is also much Cheaper than a 2.4L - My choice would be to attempt a 3.8l S/C drop, Very Difficult but crazy power - my buddy did it in a 97 Sunfire and he takes Mustang's - NO JOKE...
