i wouldn't have used 3in1 oil... that's white lithium grease, which is what i would've put back on. oh well. mine did the same thing. i just turned the ignition off blew out the unit and it has worked perfect ever since.

I agree...3in1 oil is not for electronics. It is not persistant like lithium grease so your fix likely will not last.

However if the grease did dry up and that is your issue....then pickup some and carefully work it in the gears....keeping it away from the pulleys and circuits.
