10 disc CD changer "ERR"

I have a 10 disc CD changer and it would say "ERR" on the radio dash quite often. I just have to keep trying until it picks up a cd and play. What is causing the changer to display "ERR"? thanks

Mine started doing that all the time. I couldn't even listen to CD's until I had it replaced. It worked for 2 years and then started doing the same thing again. i got so frusterated with it that I bought a pioneer head unit and am looking to get a 10 disc pioneer changer later this year. If you find a way to fix it let me know. (i think they are just cheaply made changers though)

the Infinity Deck in my jeep had trouble playing burnt CD. so I decided to replaceit with a Pioneer (The best).

Some cds are burnt and some are not. Won't play both kind. I just have to keep changing cd until it finally plays.

have u tried to run a lens cleaner and c if that helps?

yea ic, maybe heat is causing the problem. it needs air, so if it is in a tight copt where it doesn't get much cool air then that might be causing the problem

The cd changer is mounted in the rear cargo area on the right side panel.

You can hear it making clicking noise like its trying to get the cd popped in but couldn't.

does the CD Changer sit on it's side or vertical.

Vertical, the cartrudge pops out at top.

OK, put it on it's side, sometimes they have problems reading disc verticall b/c the lil tabs that hold the disc in place are fitted too loosely, and the low quality CD player can't read the disc if it flops aroudn a lil. I had this same problem with the PS2 when it is vertical.
so try to put it on it's side and c if that helps, let us all know if it works.

I think i got it working now. Not keeping my hope up yet. I used 3in1 household oil inside the slot. I can see that the grease, might be white grease, is all dried up. I greased all the bearing, acutator, and anything thingmingjing that possibly need to be greased. So far so good.
