Re: cold Air Intake for 1993 s-10 Blazer

The hose going to the driver's side valve cover is NOT the PCV Valve.

That is the fresh air intake for the PCV system. The PCV valve is in the passenger side valve cover and the hose from it then goes into the intake.

The PCV intake line will have to inserted into the new intake OR you can remove the line going to the driver's side valve cover and install a PCV breather filter in it's place. This is what I am going to do soon myself.

Here is a link to what the small filter looks like.

You really need to do this before you put on the cold air intake. What is the sense of putting a nice intake on a truck that is performaing like shit to begin with?

1.) Plugs: 6 (AC Delco CR43TS / Gapped: 0.045)

2.) Spark Plug Wire Set (Decent Brand)

3.) Fuel Filter

4.) Distributor Cap & Rotor (Replace Both)
Did the tune-up on Tuesday! Everthing went well. I don't think it ever had a tune-up. Original wires, plugs could have been original also by the way they looked! (Chunks of corosion on the ends, and posts were practically gone!) Distrubutor cap was coroded and the rotor was green with corosion. Original fuel filter too! It was full of dirt on the intake side but was clean gas going through on the out line.(Thank God) I can't believe it was running so well like that! Idles the same, except it seems to have more power on take off and acceleration. Thanks for suggesting that! You just shouldn't assume that a dealership is going to do these things before they sell the vehicle. I will NEVER assume that again! Next is the intake. Should be here tommorrow according to Fedex tracking. Thanks again and I will let you know how the intake goes!

So do you leave the PCV disconnected if you put a breather filter on the fresh air intake side? Or do you put a breather filter on each vavle cover?

Actually, leave everything stock.

Just off the phone wit a hot rod shop and they said it makes no difference.

Replace your PCV valve in your passenger side valve cover for better idle quality.

Also, go get the timing checked out.

When timing your vehicle, you have to disconnect the brown and tan timing wire under the glove compartment going to the computer.

So the PCV has to be connected to the air intake? How do I do this? Does a hole have to be drilled?

Ok, you have a hose right now that goes from the existing intake and into the driver's side valve cover. That pipe you will have to pull out of your stock intake and stick it into the new one from K&N. Yes, there is a hole there for it and a rubber grommet for the hole so it seals when the hose is inserted.

BTW, the PCV valve you shoudl replace is in the passenger side valve cover and should be replaced. Cost $2-3.

Intake is on! Very easy to do. What a difference! The only problem I had was the heat shield had to be ground down. No problem though. Maybe that is why K & N doesn't list one for the 93. I recommend this intake to anyone. As BlazerLT said this intake will fit the 92-95 S-10 Blazers. Just look on e-bay. It was also the cheapest on e-bay. Very happy with it!! Thanks BLT!!

No problem, just make sure you have the PCV intake line hooked into the intake where it goes to the driver's side valve cover.

Also, make sure the filter is on completely tight and check all the clamps and fittings for tightness every 2-3 weeks.

Clean the filter with the kit every 6-8 months.

When you clean the filter, soak the filter like mad with the cleaner, let it sit for 15 minutes, rinse with warm tap water and sir dry overnight. NO COMPRESSED AIR!!!

Then reoil the filter well but not too well.
