Re: North Koreas' accident/test?
Anyone who has ever done excavating/construction on a large scale knows that their hydro-electric excuse is nonsense.
Blowing things up on that scale is a massively inefficient use of resources. The material being blown up does not get moved effieciently under the circumstances. As for large scale construction projects......N. Korea does not even have the resources to produce enough of the most basic food for its people, much less produce a big electrical project to produce power that few in the country could afford to use anyways. |

Re: North Koreas' accident/test?
I know china is developing huge hydro schemes at the moment, maybe NK are too? only reason i can think of to blow up a mountain (to excavate..not test) is to loosen the dirt/rock, and cause it makes a nice demonstration while the Chinese president is there to watch...
remember pakistan blowing up those mountains a few years back in "testing" and india doing tests right after? i'm still going with flexing their muscles...
