Re: geez

no it doesnt matter that its already done, thats just a total on how much all the work will cost. Not saying how much more you will spend, im saying total spent.

But its your money, your style, your enjoyment, do what you want. Just in my opinion i will never see 4dr 2.2L cavy as anything more than a slow pos grocery getter. And im allowed to say that because i used to own a 95 2.2L 4 dr cavy.

If I wanted to build a fast 4 door Cavalier, I'd probably start with a '99 or earlier 4 door LS model. The 2.4 was optional in the LS and some of them are out there, but they're rare (they look like a plain jane 4 door Cavalier). Plus, after 2000 sometime, they started making 4 door Z/24s and LS Sports with 2.4s or Ecotecs. Its all up to you.
It kinda sounded like you'd trade your car to get a bike. Myself, if I could only have one, I'd stick with a car because we have 4 seasons in good old Pennsylvania.

Then replace all the internals and turn up the boost to around 12 PSI, will get you low 15's, add a No2 kit and you will be in the 14's. Price for all this. . .lets see

Turbo Kit Stage II- 4,000 (you will need stage II for that much PSI)
N02 Kit- 500
Internals- 2,000
Tires&Rims-800 bucks (need better traction to put all that power to the ground)
Suspension- 500 bucks
Fuel Management system- 400
Exhaust- 500
Performance Clutch- 500

that right their is 9200 dollars. Yes you might be able to get away with a little less, but your gonna have tons of problems and the car will break down alot. All that for a 14 second car? with 9200 dollars you can pay for almost half the price of a new colbalt SS, SRT4, RSX, something with alot better appearance and respect. Sorry but trying to make a 4dr 2.2L cavalier fast is a waste of money and time.

Not to mention a Z24 with the GM supercharger that cost 2,000 bucks can put down a high 14 second time with no other mods. . .
It may be a waste of money to you, but to others its worth it. And who said anything about fixing up the 2.2l engin? drop something better in it and go from there. So what if you spend more than the car is worth. If the person wants to do it then let them spend their money...may not be a waste to them.

That is so true. A lot of people put way more money into their car than they can recover if they ever decide to sell. This goes for tuning sport compacts as well as restoring muscle cars. Only the individual can decide what's worth it for him or her.
