It is looking great, if this is disaster then I would like to have disaster with every model I make.

Ok the engine is all done. all it needs is the wiring and plumbing which will come at the end.

So here is the engine:











Now I notice... I haven't taken any pics from the other side... just lazy I guess...

WOW that looks amazing.... But what foil did you use for the air intake, Bare Metal Foil???

No, I can never get bare metal foil to get texture. so I use it only where I need very shiny and a thin coat. Plus it is expensive. The foil is ordinary house hold cooking foil. Takes shape very well and it is more sturdy than the bmf.

I will be using this foil to cover the under tray and the cowling as well. Hope I wont mess it up. I hate trying new things in this kind of projects

Looking at the Engine, those scratchbuild shocks really do make a huge difference in that engine. Looks amazing.

Good luck with the aluminum foil. I will be using it on my F189 for floorpan and parts of the monocoque. My reference pictures shows the heat sheilding to be messy(so cigarette foil wouldnt work) so aluminum foil is the only way to go. I found that by crinkling it up into a loose ball and then flattenin it out. Then rolling it with a rolling pin gives a very good textured surface without being too large. Im intrigued to see how yours turns out!

That is exactly whay I have done, the first time. But I realized the texture is messy. Actually, depending on the way you fold or squish teh aluminum foil you have more control over it then just making it in to a ball. The photo I have showed that the aluminum insulation had large vertical creases and smaller horizantal ones. So I folded the aluminum foil to give sharp vertical lines and pressed on it to give smaller irregular horizantal lines when unfolded. Pretty bizzare actually

Amazing build very detailed and acurate, i got a question with the foil i have been trying to make a heat plate for my f1-2001 ferrari but i didnt know what glue to use. Can you tell me the glue you used to get the foil to stick to the plastic. tnx

Super glue works just fine.

use clear elmers glue, or microscale crystal clear. it is easy to work with, clean and leaves no residue to be seen.

Like stephen said super glue will work fine too, but I always fine it hard to control and it will damage it used wrong...

Here is the side pods and the under tray...

The pods are all cfed, I will add more cf inside once it is on teh car and secured.



Everything on the undertray is cfed except for the center where the driver section sits and the places where I places aluminum foil.

here you can see I marked the places where foil and decals will go.






I am going to take a break until wednesday, then I ll move on to the rear wing...

I sure have given a break I sure have a talent on destroying paint jobs. I have put away all my plastic models after I successfully destroy the new paint on the fw24 (yes - again, anyone counting how many times that happened LOL) anyways I had been racing RC cars all summer and since the rc season is out and the only racing we have is the miniZs, I can return to building kits.

I started practicing painting on scrap pieces of plastic, and I do have alot of shiny pieces now At least I hope I wont destroy another paint job (yeah right )
I was going to throw this kit away but I put so many hours in it that I just could not... So I am continuing the project where I left off which has been draging just too long.

Yesterday, I put the white on the cockpit ( after scratch building the shock cover that I lost of course) I have finished the rear wing today. I am going to wait (you see I learned paitence) for tomorrow to put the gloss coat on the wing.

I will post pictures tomorrow ( this has nothing to do with paitence, but with batteries that are dead)
