Bingo.

Can't find the perfect Z? Get a beater, then. That's what I did...If I were in that situation, which I was a few months ago, I'd buy the cheapest pos I could find to drive around until I could get what I wanted...which is what I did. Find some peesashit ford or something for $100 and drive that to get the Z...hell...just leave it somewhere when you get the Z...who cares?

My friend had a Oldsmobile Cutlass that he got for $75 from some old lady. Ran fine, smoked a little (lot after driving a while), decent interior...we put that thing through HELL. We hit a speed limit sign going so fast once that it sheered it clean off sending the thing bouncing off the hood and flying over the car. The tags were expired and our apartment complex doesn't allow that, so it got a tow warning on it. I told him to put it up on blocks for the tow guy cuz the tow company was the devil in this place...another long story...either that or take all the lug nuts off all the wheels...

Just get a car like that. Have a little fun with it...cart your happy ass to work...find yourself a good Z that you're going to want to keep. You will most likely regret just getting the first Z you see if it's not the right one. Trust me, man...I was in this same situation a few months ago...do it right the first time!

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

i was lucky when i was looking at z's. my z was the second z i looked at, and i knew it was what i wanted. do like llz said, just find a cheap beater and drive that until you find the z you want.

That's what I ended up doing. I'm selling my beater now. Probably just going to put that money into my 300.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

if i knew i'd tell ya.... they never said anything about me doing bad work or being too slow, there wasn't much work around tho.,.. i'm guessing they didn't have enough work to keep me around, so rather than just keeping me on call for weeks they decided to let me go... just means i get to sleep in a bit more till i find a new job... getting up at 6 was a pain in the ass!

ps does anyone actually see the pic? imagestation doesn't seem to like me lately

only problem is the phone # doesn't work (not in service) and the site won't let me e-mail for some reason.. seems kind of odd to me, we'll see what happens tho

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

The pic of the 'teg used to work...doesn't now. That Z31 is pretty nice and, even though it is a tad on the high side, it's reasonably priced for the mileage and condition it's in.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

the one thing i don't like about the z31, the wheels. they look tacky and don't fill the wheel well. besides that, i wouldn't mind having a z31 Turbo with 80k miles on it. that is 50k miles less than my z, and i paid $6200 for it.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

Did I ever tell you guys how I came across my Z? Shit... I don't think most of you were around this forum back then (8 months ago)... It was actually down to a Z31 NA, a Legacy Wagon, and a pretty red Z32. Story... short... I bought the Z32 (Duuuuuuuuuh!)!!!!

Everyone I talk to hates the Z31 wheels. I don't mind them. I like the 86 turbo wheels the best. If the worst thing you have to deal with when it comes to a car, you're doing just fine. If it bugs you that much, put rims on it...problem solved.

When I was looking for my first car, I drove an older talon the same day I drove the 300...easy choice. I went through a bit more trouble when I comes to my current 300...I found one in SC that I was planning on buying, but the guy was kinda shady and I ended up not doing it. Then I was on Cars.com just messin around and clicked on one car that wasn't even listed as a Turbo! Turned out to be the 86 turbo that's sitting in my driveway...for a veeeeeeeery nice price...... I had to drive to Indianapolis, which was an adventure, but not too bad. All in all, it worked out very well.

Moral of the story, don't just "settle" for something if you plan on keeping it and really putting a lot of work and/or time and/or money into it. I bought my beater Celica (WHICH IS NOW FOR SALE!! BUY IT!! $1,000 OBO!! RUNS GREAT!!) before I bought my Z cuz I needed something to drive. Just buy a (my) beater and drive that for a while until you find what you REALLY want.
