Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

wellll, here's how the story goes... today on my way home from work.. twas the normal friday traffic, huge bridge traffic like usual (big floating bridge.. pretty fancy, but a BITCH to drive) anyway... going along the bridge it just so happened that some idiot decided to slam on the breaks... the car behind him manages to stop.. the car behind the guy that stopped... locks up all 4 tires.. white smoke, bumps into the guy in front of him... the lady in the 92 integra rs that was behind him slams on her breaks, but bumps into the guy in front of her, then there's me with all 4 tires locked sliding along the metal pieces of the grate just coming off the lift span with the nose almost on the ground trying to stop, as the car in front of me bumps to a halt, the rear end comes up, just as i so happen to slide underneath, clipping... well more like owning myself on the tow hook or something... anyway, my hood now looks like a hard shell taco, bumper is barely hanging on, lights are done for, subframe is bent, radiator is toast... intake is toast, among other random pieces.

all in all, i'm fine... neck's a bit sore, but that's from the 11 k walk home with 45 lbs of gear in hands.. (bad idea) but the car is right f*** up. i'm hoping that they write it off so i can pick myself up a zx... probably going to have to go z31, but if i can get a loan from the bank (if i still have my job... another different story) i might go for the tt z32. i've found a few on autotrader that look promising... we'll see how things go.

the z31:
http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/r...=1&vid=1334617

and the z32:
http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/r...=3&vid=1553359

pic might not show up for the z32... it's pretty nice lookin.. black with stock everything.. exactly what i'm looking for... we'll see how things go.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

damn that sucks. i hope your insurance is treating you good. i know sometimes insurance companies can be a pain in the ass.

for example. a friend of mine bought a civic ex for about $10,000 cash. then he spent about $6,000 fixing it up. like, sterio system, bodykit, carbon fiver hood, rims, and a repainted the hole car. one day he came over to a stop sign and some fool hit his car from behind. the guys insurance gave my friend all this bull shit and total loss the car. so his insurance took over and gave him 1000 more. he bought the car for 10k and only got back like $6500. that really sucks after spending all that money.

i also hope that your insurance doesn't screw you over. just remember when looking for a z, don't just spend your money anywhere. make sure you want the car before you put your money down.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

Sorry about the accident, man. That sucks.

I assume the $3600 is in canadian dollars? If so, that doesn't look like too bad of a deal. If I were you, I'd get the Z31 and use the money left over on mods. You could be putting Z32TTs to shame if you put all the left over money into mods for the Z31T. Plus, the Z32 is an auto...not MY first choice...but you obviously don't care.

Go Z31, man! I need company on here!

ahaha oh s*** dude... i didn't even see that it said it was an auto on there... thanks for pointing it out... wasn't really all here yesterday when i posted.. yeah it's in canadian $ and that's in kilometers... so that's like.. just over 80 000 miles... not too bad if you ask me, i just hope it doesn't sell before i get a chance to go after it... the car's probably about an 8 hour drive away and i don't have my icbc(insurance company) claim appointment thing until next monday .

i'm not too sure how the insurance companies work it.. does anybody know how they run the system of assesment, as in how they consider a car written off or not... like is it the amount it would cost to fix it compared to the overall value of the car? thx

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

well if fixing up the car cost more than what the car is worth to the insurance company than the insurance will call it a total loss.

for example: if your car, according to the insurance is worth $2000 and its going to take $3000 to fix it. the insurance will call it a total loss and would rather give $2000 instead of spending $3000. remember no insurance company wants to lose money.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

insurance companies are a bitch. hope that that they don't screw you over like they did to my brother. he got in a wreck and his car was worth 3k, well the damage was 3300. so the insurance company told the body shop to use used parts and they did so the estimate went down to 2k. so the company screwed him over.

Check out those sites. The Z31.com site is very informative, but a little more than a few of the guys on the board are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too quick to flame people. They'd usaully rather give you a "do a search" reply to a question than just answer it...sometimes even if it's a legitimate question. If you have any questions about anything, just let me know, man. I've kinda become "the resident Z31 guy" here. I used to spend a TON of time on that site, so I'll tell you pretty much the same shit anyway.

Re: Z might be on it's way sooner than expected

yeah i just spent the night on z31.com... looks like the 86T is the model to go for, so i may go for that one, we'll see how things work out... i've been reading about the modification stuff as well... doesn't look like it's too expensive to get around 220-240 rwhp... altho, one thing i haven't been able to find is the stock weight of the 86T.

on the more expensive side of things... someone tell me that this is actually a TT.... it's got the spoiler for it, i just want an experienced opinion or 6. i think that model spoiler was on the 90-93 models right? they changed it for the 94-96?

linkey: http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/r...=3&vid=1589333

on the lighter side of things... check out what this idiot did to his srt-4

86T...why would you want one of those? Er...wait a min...what the hell is THAT in my sig? Oh yea...I have one...neeeeeeever mind... J/K...good choice man...I love my car, and yes, you can be on pace with a 350Z for ~$750 in mods.

HA! I got the oil out without taking the nut off. My car probably hates me now though. I just unscrewed the oil filter and turned the car on. Makes a mess because oil sprays everywhere, but I got the shit out of the car. Filled it up with mobile one and yeah.
I'm besides myself. That's...just...amazing...imagine the sound coming from the turbo as it's oil bearing became a memory...

I had an idea the other day...I'm going to start a club...it's called PETA...original name, huh? People for the Ethical Treatment of AUTOMOBILES. It will be our civic and moral duty to beat fucktards like this with a stick.

Quote:
And for people with 'hard start' problems, press the gas pedal all the way to the floor, turn on the key, and leave the gas pedal all the way down until the car is fully warmed up.

And for people with 'wheelhop' problems, the car has a limited amount of wheelhop in it from the factory, as long as you don't add more (pn 5006870034AA) you can use it up by setting the parking brake fully on, doing a 6K clutch drop, and keep doing WOT shifts until you run out of gear.

People with 'boost leak' problems should remove every vacuum and intercooler line/hose and JB Weld the openings shut so that no boost can ever escape. Don't forget the pesky PCV openings, or MAP sensor port.
I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. And I've NEVER seen ANYTHING fly around the net so fast.

Anyone here ever drive an SRT-4? I have...faaaaaaaaast little bastards. Fuckers run 14.5 psi, stock. Under $22G for a new car with that kind of performance...can't beat it with a stick as far as new cars go. Only 2 drawbacks, IMO...1) it's a 4 door...oh well...I can deal with that. 2) it's a neon...that's a little tougher to deal with...

This guy should be drug out to the street beat with a hose.

1. Running an engine with no oil in it. I don't even have to explain why that is stupid. Especially a turbo engine.
2. Its going to spray everywhere
3. You're not going to get more than about 2/3 of the oil out since suction tubes are usually not in the bottom of the oil pan
4. YOU"RE A ****ING IDIOT!

And don't worry LLZ, you were always number 0000 around here
