Anywho, I have doubts about the next Cobra. It's nice that they actually aren't just shoe horning in the IRS into a 25 year old design, but the damned thing is going to weigh around 3700-3800. Seems rather disapointing that it's getting even heavier. Mind you, the stiffness of the overall model has increased substantially, but still 3800 pounds is 3800 pounds no matter how you cut it. I really hope they atkins it before it's released. Otherwise, it will just be a disapointment. Ford needs to take the "Racing Mustang" seriously.

with a mustang on the other hand.... you'll feel the power @ 1700 rpms and up...

1700 rpms and above what ?? maybe 5200 , just when the S2k starts eating that ass up ... after that mustang makes all that power the S2k will be revving up to 9 grand spanking that ass up top , im sorry but there is no way in hell a new gt bone stock is gonna run with a S2k up top , no fuckin way !! stop comparing the mustang at its strong points with other cars at their weak points , try giving an overall comparison ...oh yea , the S2k is a 4 BANGER , the stang is a V8 , therefore the s2k has to rev that high to make power given the amount of displacement thats why mustangs dont make as much power at 8 grand , oh wait they dont rev no where near 8 grand !! ...

Well, we're all reserving judgement I'm sure on the '05 Mustang GT and definitely the next SVT/Shelby/whatever Ford's decided on this week, Mustang. It's hard to judge a car that there's so little hard comparison data for.

The Mustang does indeed have a rich road racing heritage that is still being added to to this very day. Companies like Steeda and Roush make really world class handling machines out of Mustangs, and the engines are certainly not lacking for torque or power.

The biggest problem with ye olde stick axle isn't how poorly it grips on a racetrack (I point to Trans-Am and USAC as perfect examples of this) but how easily unsettled the chassis is on uneven pavement. A Trans-Am car will easily lap evenly with a GTS class car at tracks like Mid-Ohio and Mosport, but put the two cars at Sebring and you start to see the Trans-Am car all ashambles.

And in anycase, we've no need to try and make this debate any more inflammatory especially with crude and insulting language and a pure lack of intelligently posed facts. Afraid members like you just aren't needed ARThoMaSVT5. Bye.
