Question buying extended warranty good idea?

Tomorrow I will be buying the 350z convertible....is it a good idea to buy the extended warranty or a waste of money? Any body out there have experiences to share? I've never owned a nissan before!

thanks!

Re: buying extended warranty good idea?

How long do you plan on owning this vehicle? In many cases, extended warranties are merely another tool to add money to the salesperson's pocket (you would be surprised to see what percentage of that money they receive), but in a few instances (used vehicles with high mileage), they're potentially useful.

It just boils down to:
Do you plan on owning the beast over six or so years?
How well do you maintain your vehicles (think about major repairs on your past vehicles)?

I, personally, don't purchase the extended warranty, but I'm also a firm believer that you will enjoy any make / model up to 120K miles as long as you take care of it (preventative & sustained maintenance) . . . and that it's not a lemon . . . *lol at a friend's Evo*

Hope that helps.
